While this disaster unfolded – and the scenes from California looked like something out of a post-apocalyptic movie – Mayor Karen Bass was missing in action.
Bass was gone for days as her city burnt.
Where was Bass?
According to Breitbart News Bass jetted off to Ghana for President John Dramani Mahama’s inauguration.
“Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass spent Tuesday in Africa as part of a taxpayer-funded delegation attending the inauguration of John Dramani Mahama as Ghana’s president. The Democrat was there as her city battled wildfires and thousands of residents fled for their lives,” Breitbart News reported.
Los Angeles ran out of water and fire hydrants sat empty.
California’s radical green new deal policies created a water shortage due to no new reservoirs and a lack of infrastructure to pump water.
According to Fox Business’s Elizabeth McDonald, Bass also slashed the city’s Fire Department budget by $17 million with another round of cuts totaling $23 million on the way.
“A check of Los Angeles’ budget shows Democrat LA Mayor Karen Bass cut about $20 million from LA’s budget for fire services in this current fiscal year and she had demanded even higher cuts. This as massive wildfires devastate Los Angeles with at least 80K evacuating, and local reports show the LA fire department is running out of water.
Mayor Bass had proposed about $23 million in cuts to the LA fire department. Mayor Bass was on a trip with a Biden delegation to Ghana overseas as local LA residents hammer her saying she should resign. $13 million of the cuts to the LA fire department were for operating supplies plus larger cuts to salaries,” McDonald wrote on X.
The American media largely operates a Super PAC for the Democrat Party.
No American journalists were in a rush to question Bass about her failures and to hold her accountable.
But one journalist did.
Sky News Australia’s David Blevins.
Blevins grilled Bass about abandoning her residents in their time of need and asked if she would apologize.
“Do you owe citizens an apology for being absent whilst their homes were burning?” Blevins asked.
Blevins then asked if Bass regretted gutting the Fire Department budget.
“Do you regret cutting the fire department’s budget?” Blevins inquired.
The entire time Bass stood in silence and refused to answer questions.

Bass may come to regret this abysmal performance when the inevitable recall effort gets under way.
