When Vice President Kamala Harris ran for President in 2020 she took a number of extreme left-wing positions.

She supported banning fracking, eliminating private health insurance, decriminalizing illegal immigration, mandating Americans drive electric vehicles, and defunding the police.

Now that Kamala is the Democrat Party candidate for President she wants to pretend like none of this happened.

Her campaign released a series of press releases from anonymous aides claiming that Kamala no longer holds these far-left views.

A recent New York Times/Siena poll found that a plurality of voters – 47 percent – believed Kamala Harris was too left-wing to be President.

That number far outstripped the 32 percent who reported believing that Donald Trump was too conservative.

The Times/Siena poll had Trump beating Kamala 48 to 47 percent because more Americans thought she was the extremist. 

Bernie Sanders put Kamala Harris in a bind

In her lone interview of the campaign with CNN’s Dana Bash, Kamala Harris stated “my values haven’t changed.”

During an interview on NBC’s Meet the Press, U.S. Senator Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) confirmed that Kamala’s attempt to pivot to the center via press release was all a ruse.

NBC host Kristin Welker asked Sanders if he still considered Kamala a “progressive.”

“You have described Kamala Harris as a progressive,” Welker began. “She has previously supported Medicare for all, now she does not. She has previously supported a ban on fracking, now she does not. these Senator, are ideas that you have campaigned on. Do you think she is abandoning her progressive ideals?” 

Sanders told Welker that Kamala still supported all her past left-wing positions to defund the police, impose a government takeover of healthcare, and open the border to a new wave of illegal immigration.

Kamala Harris – Sanders explained – was just hiding her real views to be “pragmatic” because her past far-left positions would otherwise make her unelectable.

“No, I don’t think she’s abandoning her ideals. I think she’s trying to be pragmatic and doing what she thinks is right in order to win the election. My own view is slightly different. I think that in America today there are a lot of people, rural people, working-class people who no longer believe that the United States Congress and government represents their interests, who are dominated by big-money interests,” Sanders stated.

The outcome of the 2024 Election depends on which framing of Kamala Harris voters accept.

She wants voters to see her as a pop culture phenomenon and the candidate of joy and change.

Former President Donald Trump is pushing the facts about Kamala Harris’ left-wing record to voters, so the public realizes what they are getting.

And Bernie Sanders just went a long way toward helping Trump accomplish that mission.
