A major auto-maker experienced another electric vehicle disaster
Democrats want to force America to switch to electric vehicles.
But the Bidenmobiles keep posing problems for manufacturers and drivers alike.
And a major auto-maker experienced another electric vehicle disaster.
Pitfalls of EVs
There are many reasons Americans are reluctant to make the switch to electric vehicles.
First off, the purchase price alone makes them less practical.
The average cost of a new electric vehicle is $56,000, which is $7000 higher than the cost of a new gas-powered vehicle.
Not to mention, there aren’t as many used electric vehicles available, so those on a budget are more likely to buy a used gas-powered car.
The repair costs for electric vehicles are another concern.
Replacing an EV battery can cost around $20,000.
In many cases, gas powered cars could completely replace an engine or transmission at less cost.
Then there is the issue of charging the electric vehicles.
Charging them takes time, while with a gas-powered car you can fill up and be back on the road in a matter of minutes.
Many charging stations are often out-of-service as well.
The saving electric vehicle owners may receive by savings on gas are less of an issue, as the price of gas has already gone down in anticipation of the incoming Trump administration’s pro-energy policy changes.
Then there is the safety issues.
Electric vehicle fires can be especially dangerous.
Ford recalls thousands of EVs
Ford Motor Co is recalling 20,484 hybrid crossover SUVs due to battery issues that could lead to fires.
Vehicles being recalled include 16,480 Escape and 4004 Lincoln Corsair plug-in-hybrid SUVs from model years 2020 to 2024.
Documents filed with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration detail the reasons for the recall.
“In the event of a high voltage battery cell internal short circuit, customers may experience shutdown of the vehicle’s propulsion system. Loss of motive power increases the risk of crash and injury. Steering, braking, and lighting functions are not affected. In the event of a high voltage battery cell internal short circuit, the customer may also experience battery thermal venting potentially resulting in a vehicle fire, increasing the risk of injury,” the documents state.
Ford said the vehicles will have a “Stop Safely Now” to warn drivers of a problem that could lead to a battery fire.
Fires from electric vehicles have proved more difficult to put out, even by firefighters with the proper equipment.
Under the recall, Ford dealerships will provide inspections and replace the expensive battery packs free of charge.
According to recall documents, there have been four cases of “thermal venting,” though no injuries have been reported.
Owners of vehicles covered under the recall can expect to receive notification letters sent to them around January 20.
Recalls like this can be extremely costly to manufacturers, which will further increase the costs associated with electric vehicles.
The Left and extreme environmentalists have done all they can to push electric vehicles on the American people.
But the Bidenmobiles keep having more problems rendering them impractical.
