RINO Congressman Mike Turner removed as House Intelligence Committee Chairman
Congressman Mike Turner (R-OH) claimed House Speaker Mike Johnson removed him as chair of the House Intelligence Committee on orders from Donald Trump.
“Mr. Turner, who emerged from a meeting with the speaker on Wednesday afternoon looking furious, has told people that Mr. Johnson informed him his ouster was the result of a request from Mr. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, according to a person familiar with those conversations,” the New York Times reported.
Johnson claimed the shakeup atop the Intelligence Committee was a natural byproduct of a new Congress.
“It’s a new Congress. We just need fresh horses in some of these places. But I’m a Mike Turner fan,” Johnson said to reporters. “He’s done a great job. He performed valiantly in a difficult time under difficult circumstances. So I have nothing but positive things to say about my friend and colleague.”
Johnson tried to claim that removing Turner was his decision.
“This is not a President Trump decision; this is a House decision,” Johnson continued. “And this is no slight whatsoever to our . . . outgoing chairman.”
One sign this was a good thing was the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee lamented Turner’s ouster.
“I’m enormously concerned because I think you’d be hard-pressed to find somebody as fair-minded,” Congressman Jim Himes (D-CT) told the press.
Why Trump would want Turner gone
Few bought Johnson’s attempt to make it seem like he was calling the shots.

And Mike Turner planted his flag with the Liz Cheney wing of the party.
Turner went on CNN and claimed conservatives who supported Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Ukraine were useful idiots repeating Russian propaganda.
“It is absolutely true we see, directly coming from Russia, attempts to mask communications that are anti-Ukraine and pro-Russia messages, some of which we even hear being uttered on the House floor,” Turner stated.
Turner claimed Russian propaganda took hold in the GOP and was the cause of the opposition to giving Joe Biden a blank check to wage his forever war against Russia in Ukraine.
“To the extent that this propaganda takes hold, it makes it more difficult for us to really see this as an authoritarian versus democracy battle,” Turner added.
Turner was also one of the most resolute supporters of Section 702 of the FISA Amendments Act, which allows for warrantless spying on American citizens.
When FISA came up for reauthorization last spring, Trump called on Republicans to oppose this big government power grab, as the FISA Amendments Act is what disgraced former FBI Director James Comey exploited to spy on Donald Trump’s campaign.
“KILL FISA, IT WAS ILLEGALLY USED AGAINST ME, AND MANY OTHERS. THEY SPIED ON MY CAMPAIGN!!!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Section 702 of FISA is up for reauthorization in 2026.
