Karine Jean-Pierre looked like a deer in headlights over this Hunter Biden pardon question
Joe Biden created a mess for the Democrat Party when he issued a blanket pardon for his son Hunter Biden.
With Joe Biden going into hiding, it was up to White House press-secretary Karine Jean-Pierre to play damage control.
And Karine Jean-Pierre looked like a deer in headlights over this Hunter Biden pardon question.
The media was especially furious at Joe Biden for issuing the Hunter Biden pardon.
So-called journalists spent the last six months carrying Joe Biden’s water saying he – and the rest of the Democrat Party – were morally superior to Donald Trump because Biden claimed he would accept his son’s conviction on gun charges and subsequent guilty plea on tax crimes.
Polls show Americans have low trust in the media because the public knows members of the press will lie on behalf of the Democrat Party.
Jean-Pierre faced this rage in the briefing room when Zeke Miller of the Associated Press and MJ Lee and CNN demanded Jean-Pierre answer as to why the American people should ever believe Biden again.
“Zeke asked this question, I just didn’t hear an answer. The next time the president says he will or won’t do something, why should the American people believe him?” Lee wondered.
Jean-Pierre isn’t particularly adroit at answering questions, even when they are softballs.
This performance was noteworthily horrific.
“I won’t — I can’t speak to you understanding the question or not or my answer or not on this. I don’t have anything else to say. I’m not going to relitigate this,” Jean-Pierre began.
Jean-Pierre then claimed she already answered questions about the pardon on Monday and was moving on.
“I did it on Monday for 30 minutes, I went back and forth, I laid it out, I said, please read the president’s really comprehensive statement on this and I even said, the last paragraph of that statement, he talks directly to the American people and that’s how I answered that question,” Jean-Pierre stated.
Jean-Pierre claimed Biden didn’t lie about not pardoning his son, but that he changed his mind because he thought his son was the victim of a political persecution.
“The president laid out in that statement what changed, why his mind changed, how he wrestled with this decision. The president laid that out. I don’t have anything else to add,” Jean-Pierre added.
But that just drove Jean-Pierre into a rhetorical dead end because it went against Joe Biden saying he believed in the justice system while claiming Trump was a threat to democracy for stating that the justice system was rigged against him.
When asked about this contradiction, Jean-Pierre tried to claim nothing Joe Biden did ran crosswise with what he said.
“He believes in the justice system. He believes the facts are The facts are. Obviously, I talked about the gun charges. What legal experts have said, former prosecutors have all agreed virtually no one would be criminally prosecuted for underlying factors of Hunter’s case,” Jean-Pierre rambled.
“I talk about the gun charges. I talked about the taxes, the tax cases. And there are other factors here. What Republicans have said as they weren’t going to let up. I talked about the upcoming sentencing and what Hunter and his family had been through. I talked about the appointees by the incoming president on law enforcement positions, and he wrestled with it. He did,” Jean-Pierre wrapped up.
