James Comer wants to use his committee to assist Kash Patel’s mission
President-elect Donald Trump nominated his former national security official Kash Patel to serve as the new director of the FBI.
Patel helped expose the FBI’s misconduct in creating the Russian collusion hoax during Trump’s first term when he was a staffer on the House Intelligence Committee.
He pulled back the curtain on the Deep State in his book Government Gangsters, which named members of the Deep State who he argued needed to be prosecuted.
Trump put him in charge of the FBI to clean house and end the politicization that’s overtaken the bureau.
House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer (R-KY) wants to help him do that.
Comer told Politico that he wants to meet with Patel to discuss how his committee can help take down the Deep State.
“I want [Patel] to know that our committee will assist in any way possible to help him disrupt the ‘Deep State,’” Comer said.
Patel is awaiting confirmation by the Senate before he can take the reins at the FBI.
Comer pointed out that the Deep State intervened in his impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
“It’s a big deal to know that the President of the United States is on the take, and yet you do nothing — and I would go further, obstructed our investigation and coordinated with the media to write things that just weren’t true,” Comer stated. “[Patel] and I are fixing to meet because with respect to him, they need to hold some people accountable for a cover up.”

The House Oversight Committee could send names of government bureaucrats who obstructed investigations and covered things over to Patel’s office, according to Comer.
Comer previously expressed confidence that Trump had picked the right team to dismantle the Deep State during his second term.
“The days of the Deep State are about to end under Donald Trump,” Comer told Fox News in December. “He’s put the right people in place at the Department of Justice, at the CIA, at the FBI, and I think this is what the American people voted for. They knew under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, we’ve had a two-tiered system of justice in America. Juries across America have lost confidence in FBI testimony.”
Comer argued that the FBI strayed from its mission of fighting crime to protecting the political establishment by meddling in the Hunter Biden probe and other investigations.
The House Oversight Committee is one of the most powerful in Congress with its expansive subpoena powers.
It can help investigate some of the bad actors and corruption that Kash Patel uncovers at the FBI.
Donald Trump will have a loyalist in place at the FBI who understands the mission of reforming the bureau.
