You won’t believe how this Joe Biden ally reacted to Trump testifying at this impeachment trial

House Democrats dropped their biggest bombshell yet with a demand for Donald Trump to testify at his second impeachment trial.
But not everyone was on board with the idea.
And you won’t believe how this Joe Biden ally reacted to Trump testifying at this impeachment trial.
Delaware Senator Chris Coons is Joe Biden’s number one ally in the United States Senate.
When Coons speaks, it can be assumed it is a message from Biden.
And Coons called the request by the Democrat House impeachment managers that Trump testify at his impeachment a “terrible idea.”
Sen COONS on the idea of former-Pres Trump testifying as a part of the Senate impeachment trial: “I think it's a terrible idea.”
Q: Why?
COONS: “Have you met President Trump?”

Senate Democrats know 45 Republicans already voted to dismiss the article of impeachment as unconstitutional because Trump is out of office.
That means there are likely 45 votes to acquit.
Calling witnesses will just drag the trial out for weeks because if Democrats call Donald Trump then Republicans will retaliate with witnesses of their own.
Both sides have an incentive to get this impeachment trial behind them as quickly as possible.
An impeachment trial will jam up the Senate, as the institution cannot hold votes on any other matter.
Democrats cannot confirm any of Joe Biden’s nominees nor can they vote on any of his legislative proposals.
Republicans don’t want a prolonged debate on the riot at the U.S. Capitol as Democrats and the media can just use it as an excuse to score cheap points at their expense.
Joe Biden and the Democrats understand it is in their interest to get this trial over and done with.
And that is why Chris Coons spoke out against the idea of having Donald Trump testify.
