Alvin Bragg crossed the Rubicon by becoming the first prosecutor to put a former President on trial.

This case is really the Democrat Party versus Donald Trump.

And Alvin Bragg asked a jury to do this insane thing to Donald Trump.

Legal expert scoffs at Bragg case

George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley expressed his dismay at the sorry state of affairs in the New York legal system with courts allowing Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s farcical prosecution to go forward even though his predecessor knew this was a bogus case and refused to press charges.

“The district attorney who once refused to move forward on this case yielded to pressure,” Turley told Fox News host Sandra Smith. “The courts have allowed this to go forward even though many of us have said it is absurd … The New York legal system is relying on average people, frankly, to have a redemptive moment to say, ‘my god, we have to say enough. Where is the crime here?’ And that will come down to [Trump’s] intent.”

Turley pointed out the absurdity of this case being Bragg would ask a jury to convict Trump based on the testimony of “star” witness and former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen.

What Cohen plans to tell the jury is that Trump followed Cohen’s legal advice on how to structure a nondisclosure agreement and accompanying $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels.

“And keep in mind, you’re going to have his former lawyer telling this jury: ‘send my former client to jail for following my legal advice.’ How many cases do you know of where that’s happened?” Turley concluded.

The laughable facts of this absurd case

In October 2016, Cohen paid Daniels $130,000 to complete the nondisclosure agreement (NDA) so he wouldn’t go public with her allegations of an affair with Trump back in 2006.

The payment to her and the NDA are all legal.

Bragg is claiming Trump marked a payment to Cohen as for “legal services” in the Trump Organization books which is a falsification of business records.

But that’s a misdemeanor charge with the statute of limitations that long ago expired.

To keep the charge alive, Bragg needed to claim the falsification of business records was committed to cover up another crime.

Here’s where he got creative and claimed the NDA payment was designed to influence the election and thus an illegal and unreported campaign donation.

The Biden Justice Department investigated this theory and never charged Trump with conspiring with Cohen to circumvent campaign finance laws.

The payment to Cohen also wasn’t a campaign finance violation since Trump can do pretty much whatever he wants with his own money.

Bragg will put Cohen on the stand to tell the jury how he and Trump worked together to put this payment together.

Cohen was Trump’s lawyer at the time.

Trump would have trusted him to provide legal advice to keep everything above board precisely to avoid a situation like this.

And now in this Kafka-esque legal vortex Trump finds himself in, Bragg will use him following his lawyer’s counsel to try and put him in prison.
