Robert Mueller won a victory that will have every Trump supporter furious
Special counsel Robert Mueller is running out of time to file charges against Trump associates.
The elections are quickly approaching and Mueller is facing pressure to wrap in his case.
And in his pursuit of one Trump associate, Mueller won a victory that will have all the President’s supporters furious.
Mueller is zeroing in on long time Trump associate Roger Stone.
Stone claimed during the 2016 campaign that he communicated with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and Mueller is using this as the basis to build a case that Stone colluded with the Russians.
Mueller won a legal battle to have Andrew Miller, Stone’s social media staffer during the 2016 campaign testify before the grand jury.
Talking Points Memo reports:
The ruling does not refer to Miller by name, but Miller’s attorney, Paul Kamenar, confirmed to the Post that it related to the request brought by his client.
“We’re disappointed with the court’s ruling,” Kamenar told the newspaper. “But the judge obviously took our challenge to Mueller’s constitutionality seriously as evidenced by the 93-page opinion.”
Howell’s ruling orders Miller, who served as a media liaison for Stone during the 2016 presidential campaign, to provide testimony as soon as possible and to turn over all subpoenaed records.
“The scope of the Special Counsel’s power falls well within the boundaries the Constitution permits, as the Special Counsel is supervised by an official who is himself accountable to the elected President,” Howell wrote.
Mueller needs to claim a scalp for the public to have any faith in his investigation.
And he has produced zero evidence that anyone associated with the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians in 2016.
Stone has acknowledged trading Twitter direct messages with the hacker Guccifer 2.0, who claimed to be a Romanian hacker who obtained the emails from the Democrat National Committee.
Mueller alleged Guccifer was really a creation of Russian intelligence, but stated that no American committed any crimes or colluded with Guccifer on obtaining the hacked emails.
Mueller has shown that if he needs to file an indictment for political momentum or a P.R. stunt he will.
That’s why Stone has predicted he will be indicted on a financial crime unrelated to the 2016 election.
