Pennsylvania Democrat Senator John Fetterman has not been back in Washington, D.C. for long but he is already causing trouble.

This time it’s too much – even for Fetterman.

And John Fetterman slapped Clarence Thomas with one ugly threat.

Joe Biden demanded Republicans vote to raise the debt ceiling and pile trillions of dollars in debt on the heads of the next generation to pay for his socialist spending spree.

Conservatives in the House rallied around a plan that cut trillions in spending by slashing woke diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, imposing spending caps, and work requirements for anyone collecting welfare.

But Biden wants the debt ceiling lifted with no preconditions.

Biden falsely claims that failing to raise the debt ceiling will result in a catastrophic default that would destroy the U.S. economy to try and pressure Republicans onto caving in.

Democrats like Senator Fetterman can’t stand the thought of agreeing to even one nickel in spending cuts so they are now pushing a hairbrained scheme for Joe Biden to unilaterally raise the debt ceiling by executive fiat using Section 4 of the 14th Amendment.

John Fetterman – who suffered a near fatal stroke last May and who many Americans believe suffers from cognitive impairment – is one of the ringleaders of this blatantly unconstitutional scheme.

Fetterman unleashed a series of social media posts demanding Biden act like a royal Monarch and raise the debt ceiling on his own.

“President Biden needs to consider using the 14th Amendment if necessary. The entire GOP debt ceiling negotiation is a sad charade, and it’s exactly what’s wrong with Washington. We’re playing with fire and the livelihoods of millions just for the GOP to try and turn the screws on hungry Americans,” Fetterman declared.

Fetterman even went so far as to dare Clarence Thomas and the other conservatives on the Supreme Court to stop Biden by ruling that Biden overstepped his Article II authority to unilaterally raise the debt ceiling and risk economic calamity.

“This is the whole reason why the 14th Amendment exists, and we need to be prepared to use it. We cannot let these reckless Republicans hold the economy hostage,” Fetterman concluded.

Failing to raise the debt ceiling would not result in a default.

The government could still pay its bills.

What the government could not do is fire up the Federal Reserve printing presses to finance trillions in new debt.

The plain text of Section 4 of the 14th Amendment makes it plainly obvious how absurd this scheme is.

A simple reading of the text shows that the government can only incur new debt via an act of Congress.

Section 4 reads:

The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

If Joe Biden tried to raise the debt limit on his own using the 14th Amendment it would take about five seconds for conservatives to challenge this illegal usurpation of Congress’ power in court.

And once this case made it to the Supreme Court Biden would stand little chance of victory.
