Donald Trump went on TV and made a shocking coronavirus admission
America is nine days in to Donald Trump’s 15 days to stop the spread campaign.
The economy is shut down as Americans hunker down in the homes to try and minimize in-person interactions that cause coronavirus transmissions to skyrocket.
And now Donald Trump went on TV and made a shocking coronavirus admission.
The American economy is shut down as part of an effort to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
Now the question about the virus is shifting toward what is the best possible plan to reopen the economy and protect public health.
During a Fox News town hall on the coronavirus the President made news when he declared his hope that the country’s economy could reopen by Easter Sunday, which is April 12.
“I’d love to have it open by Easter,” Trump told anchor Bill Hemmer.
“I would love to have the country opened up and rearing to go by Easter,” Trump added.
Easter Sunday would be a little less than four weeks after Trump first put in place social distancing measures that shut down the economy.
Now the President is looking to his health experts to present a plan to ease the country back into a functioning economy.
New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo agreed with this plan.
During his daily press conference Governor Cuomo stated, “You can have an economic start-up strategy that is consistent with a public health strategy.”
Cuomo echoed the outlines of a plan the President floated where at risk individuals remained in self-quarantine while younger and healthy Americans went back to work.
“Let the younger people go back to work, let the recovered people go back to work,” Cuomo added, “Ramp up the economy with those individuals.”
Both Cuomo and Trump agreed that America could both protect the nation’s public and economic health.
“So you’re refining your public health strategy and at the same time you’re restarting your economy,” Cuomo said. “Those two can be consistent if done intelligently.”
