Donald Trump just beat Joe Biden in one poll question that no one saw coming
Joe Biden will always be compared to Donald Trump as President.
That’s turned into bad news for Democrats.
And Donald Trump just beat Joe Biden in one poll question that no one saw coming.
When Joe Biden campaigned for President in 2020, his handlers and the media sold him to the public as an experienced hand who understood the ways of Washington, D.C. and would serve as a competent President restoring normality to American politics.
At the one-year mark of his Presidency, Biden’s core argument lies in tatters as a plurality of Americans grade him as a failed President.
But that is just the tip of the iceberg.
For all the ranting and raving in the corporate-controlled media that Donald Trump ran a chaotic administration, a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll showed more Americans gave Trump an “A” or a “B” grade for his first year in office than they did Joe Biden.
Like Trump, more voters gave Biden a failing mark at the quarter mark of his term than those who awarded an “A” or “B” combined, according to a POLITICO/Morning Consult poll released Wednesday. About 37 percent of those surveyed rated Biden’s performance as an “F,” compared to the 31 percent who gave either an “A” or “B” grade for the past year.
Biden’s results were even a touch worse than Trump’s at the same point in their presidencies, when 35 percent of voters in 2018 gave Trump a failing mark against 34 percent A’s and B’s. Slightly more voters gave Biden the middling mark of “C” than Trump got in the comparable 2018 survey, 18 percent to 14 percent, and the pair got nearly identical percentages of “D” grades.
The POLITICO/Morning Consult poll contained an avalanche of dire warnings for Democrats about the state of Biden’s Presidency.
49 percent of Americans disagreed with the statement that Joe Biden was mentally fit to serve as President.
The poll also gave Republicans large leads on which Party the public thought was better suited to handle key issues.
POLITICO reported the poll gave Republicans the lead on the “economy (47%-34%), jobs (45%-35%), immigration (45%-37%), national security (49%-32%), and gun policy (45%-36%).”
Taken together, this poll represents a toxic stew for Democrats in both the 2022 and 2024 elections, as Republicans will frame both as a referendum on the Biden Presidency – which Americans now view as a failure.
