Joe Biden just admitted to this campaign-ending mistake
Joe Biden’s free ride as a Presidential candidate is over.
The former Vice President is caught up in his first crisis of the 2020 campaign.
And now he just admitted to this campaign-ending mistake.
Biden made news when he told a woman on a rope line that he no longer supported the Hyde Amendment — the federal law that prevented taxpayer funding for abortion except in the case of rape or incest.
The former Vice President repeatedly supported the amendment while in the Senate, and his campaign clarified that Biden still supported the Hyde Amendment.
That lasted all of 24 hours.
Under intense pressure from his Democrat rivals, Biden reversed himself again and said he could no longer support banning taxpayer funding for abortion.
The Washington Post reports:
In a dramatic reversal, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said Thursday he no longer supports a ban on federal funding for abortions, known as the Hyde Amendment, a move he announced after a day of sharp criticism from campaign rivals and key Democratic interest groups.
The former vice president announced the change during a speech at the Democratic National Committee’s African American Leadership Council summit in Atlanta, telling the crowd that, in an environment where the Roe v. Wade decision on abortion is under attack in Republican-held states, he could no longer support a policy that limits funding.
“We’ve seen state after state including Georgia passing extreme laws,” Biden said. “It’s clear that these folks are going to stop at nothing to get rid of Roe.”
“Circumstances have changed,” he said.
Biden’s “flip-flop-flip” is a prime example of his lack of political skill.
There is a reason his two previous Presidential campaigns flamed out and he spent the better part of 30 years as a national joke.
