Nurse Union Boss Manufactured a Voting Rights Crisis to Attack ICE

National Nurses United already branded ICE a lawless paramilitary force earlier this year.

Now their executive director picked Independence Day to escalate the attack.

What she claimed about voting rights on the Fourth of July will make you furious.

Puneet Maharaj Chose the Semiquincentennial to Trash ICE

America turned 250 years old on July 4.

Puneet Maharaj marked the occasion with a post attacking ICE.

"Federal charges against protestors.

Attacks on voting rights.

ICE raids in our communities," Maharaj wrote on X.

She claimed the Trump administration is running intimidation tactics meant to scare Americans into silence.

Nowhere in her post did Maharaj name a single American who lost the right to vote.

No court has found a voting rights violation tied to ICE.

Maharaj simply repeated the phrase because her audience already believes it.

The Same Union Turned a Dead Nurse Into a Martyr for Abolishing ICE

This is not Maharaj's first trip to the well.

Earlier this year, National Nurses United rallied in Washington with Sen. Ed Markey to demand Congress eliminate ICE entirely.

Their press release described ICE as an out-of-control force that targets anyone who opposes the president.

They pointed to Alex Pretti, a Minneapolis nurse killed during clashes with federal agents in January.

Pretti's death was a tragedy.

It was also the only card National Nurses United has played for six straight months.

Every statement, every rally, every tweet circles back to the same script.

Abolish ICE.

Defund ICE.

Federal agents are terrorists.

What Maharaj never mentions is who ICE is actually arresting.

DHS Says 70 Percent of ICE Arrests Are Criminals

The Department of Homeland Security has said repeatedly that 70 percent of ICE arrests involve illegal aliens already charged with or convicted of a crime on American soil.

That includes child rapists.

That includes gang members tied to Tren de Aragua.

That includes a Honduran illegal alien charged with five counts of attempted murder in Memphis.

A union representing 225,000 nurses is telling its members that arresting a convicted child predator is more dangerous than the predator himself.

That is not patient advocacy.

That is politics wearing scrubs.

This Is Not About Nursing Anymore

National Nurses United's own website tells you everything.

Their homepage lists policy priorities on gender, race, and climate right alongside health care.

Member dues fund a full-time lobbying operation aimed at Republican immigration policy.

None of that treats a patient.

None of that staffs a hospital floor.

Maharaj runs a political operation that borrows a nursing badge for credibility it did not earn.

Choosing Independence Day to do it was not an accident.

She knew exactly who would be watching and what they wanted to hear.

Democrats have spent months trying to sound reasonable on ICE while groups like National Nurses United demand total abolition.

That gap is only going to grow before November.
