Tom Homan Told the Honduras Caravan Where They Might End Up and It Isn’t Home

On December 22, 2023, Joe Biden's Border Patrol released 4,832 illegal immigrants into America in one day.
Now roughly 600 migrants are marching north from Honduras toward a border that looks nothing like it.
Tom Homan went on Fox News and told them exactly where they could land instead.
The “Faith and Hope” Caravan Doubled Before It Hit Mexico
The group walked out of San Pedro Sula, Honduras on September 20 under a name that tells you everything – "Fe y Esperanza con Dios," Faith and Hope with God.
Early counts put it at a few hundred people.
By the time it crossed into Chiapas, Breitbart Texas reported it had swelled to about 600.
Hondurans, Guatemalans, Salvadorans, Ecuadorians and Haitians are all in the column.
Townhall's read on the motive is simple – the marchers are betting a Democrat takeover of Congress would tie Trump's hands and swing the gate back open.
Homan's answer came fast.
"I can tell you they won't be released into the United States," Homan said. "We're at almost 17 months of not a single illegal alien being released to the border, and that's not going to change."
Then he dropped the line that should have every smuggler in Central America rethinking the sales pitch.
Anyone who shows up will be "immediately turned around, or they'll be arrested and prosecuted and deported, maybe deported to a third country, maybe not their home country," Homan said.
If a migrant's home country drags its feet taking him back, Homan said, "we'll send them to another country. We have many to choose from."
"Border remains closed," he added, and promised "zero releases from the border under the Trump administration."
Faith and hope might carry this caravan through Chiapas.
It won't get anyone a hotel room in Manhattan on the taxpayer's dime.
Mullin Says the Caravan Has Zero Chance of Getting In
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin didn't bother with diplomatic language.
"The caravan has zero chance of coming into our country," Mullin said.
He said DHS is surging to block the group and the Pentagon is preparing to get involved, and Townhall reported Mexico is stepping in to break it up.
White House senior deputy press secretary Lauren Bis was just as blunt: "The message to the caravan is you will not be allowed into our country. Our border is closed to lawbreakers."
DHS warned migrants that "the days of 'catch and release' are over."
That isn't a slogan anymore.
In May 2026, DHS marked a full calendar year without a single illegal alien released at the southern border.
In June 2025, Border Patrol recorded just 95 encounters in a single 24-hour period – the lowest number ever logged.
The last caravan to try this, in April 2026, fell apart after Mexican authorities stepped in and sent migrants back to Tapachula.
Mayorkas Flew to Mexico City While 8,000 Marched North
Compare that to December 2023.
More than 8,000 migrants were marching through southern Mexico that month.
Border Patrol logged more than 35,000 encounters over the four-day Christmas weekend alone.
Alejandro Mayorkas didn't close anything.
He flew to Mexico City with Antony Blinken to ask Mexico's president for help.
December ended with 302,000 migrant encounters at the southern border – the worst month ever recorded.
Mayorkas went looking for a favor, and Mullin is telling the caravan it has zero chance.
That's the whole difference between the two administrations.
Why the Honduras Caravan Left Six Weeks Before Election Day
The timing is no accident.
In October 2018, a caravan of some 7,000 migrants left Honduras weeks before those midterms, and President Trump sent thousands of troops to the border to meet it.
Organizers learned from that fight that a caravan is a political weapon, and its real target is American voters.
Under Biden, nobody needed a calendar because the door was open every day of the year.
Now the only thing that can reopen it is a new Congress, so the caravan is timed to the vote.
Homan's third-country warning blows up the whole business model, because smugglers can't sell a trip that might end in a country the migrant has never seen.
Every person in that column knows who was running the border in December 2023.
They're counting on voters to forget.
Homan and Mullin are counting on voters to remember.
