Tom Homan Just Gave Ilhan Omar Unwelcome News About the Probe That Began Long Before Agents Raided

Federal agents in Homeland Security jackets showed up at Ilhan Omar's Washington-area home before sunrise.
Omar cried political persecution and swore she would never be silenced.
Then the border czar went on Fox News and made clear this raid was no snap decision.
The Immigration Papers Omar's Late Father Filed in 2000
The investigation comes down to one stack of paperwork.
Fox News sources say investigators are chasing possible criminal fraud in an immigration application Omar's father – since deceased – submitted on her behalf when she was a child.
That 2000 application listed Omar as a minor.
State library records once listed her birth year as 1981.
If that date is right, Omar was 18 or 19 when it was filed.
Her birth year was later revised to 1982.
Same woman.
Two birth years.
One application that called her a minor.
Omar's explanation is that her birth records were destroyed in the chaos in Somalia.
Federal investigators now get to test that story against the paper trail instead of a press release from her office.
Homan Says the Ilhan Omar Probe Did Not Start With the Raid
Homan did not dress it up.
"We know this investigation was ongoing for a while," the border czar told Fox News after agents executed the warrant on October 12.
He made clear the Justice Department and Homeland Security are working the case together.
For the details, Homan sent reporters to Attorney General Todd Blanche and Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin.
That is how a professional talks when a criminal case is real and he has no intention of blowing it.
The Justice Department confirmed Homeland Security Investigations carried out a "judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice."
Omar blamed Trump and claimed he has been gunning for her for a decade.
Read that again – a federal judge signed off on searching the home of a sitting member of Congress.
Judges do not hand those out because a politician is unpopular at the White House.
The Ilhan Omar Investigation Was Building All Year
Vice President JD Vance said back in March that "Ilhan Omar definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America."
Vance also asked what Omar knew about what was happening inside Minnesota's Somali community.
President Trump raised the brother allegation himself during remarks on May 1.
In September, Homan confirmed the criminal investigation was in the hands of Homeland Security Investigations.
"No one is above the law," Homan said.
Mullin went further in an interview with Benny Johnson and accused Omar of marrying her brother as a way to get him into America – an allegation Omar has denied for years.
Mullin added that the brother now lives in London.
Blanche was asked about it point blank at the White House and gave the answer prosecutors give when something is coming.
"I'm not talking about ongoing criminal investigations," Blanche said.
Less than a month later, his Justice Department went to a federal judge and secured the warrant.
Through all of it, Omar insisted she had never been made aware of any criminal investigation.
The pre-dawn knock on October 12 made sure she knows now.
Jefferson and Menendez Got the Same Knock Before Omar
Omar is on the ballot in November, and Democrats will scream about timing with the election just weeks away.
But a case Vance was talking about in March is not an October surprise.
Homan has already rejected the idea that any of this is political.
Federal agents once found $90,000 stuffed in Louisiana Democrat William Jefferson's freezer.
Jefferson swore he was innocent and ended up with a 13-year prison sentence.
Agents found gold bars and stacks of cash in New Jersey Democrat Bob Menendez's home.
Menendez swore he was innocent too and got 11 years.
Omar is a naturalized citizen, and that changes everything.
Federal law lets the government go to court and strip citizenship from anyone who obtained it through concealment or willful misrepresentation.
Homan has said plainly that denaturalization is a serious process and that it has been used many times against people who lied to get their papers.
The Justice Department made those cases a top priority in a June 2025 memo that specifically named citizenship obtained through misrepresentation.
The government carries the burden of proof in those cases, so prosecutors do not bring them on a hunch.
If investigators conclude that 2000 application misrepresented who was on it, that is precisely the kind of case the memo was written for.
Omar has brushed off the marriage allegations as bigoted lies.
Now she will have to explain two birth years to federal investigators instead of reporters.
