Tom Homan Confirmed an Investigation Into Ilhan Omar and Put Her Citizenship On the Table

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin accused Ilhan Omar of marrying her brother to smuggle him into America.

Days later, border czar Tom Homan confirmed a criminal investigation is already underway.

He would not say what triggered it, only that it could end with Omar losing her citizenship.

Homan Confirms the Probe but Won't Reveal the Specifics

Tom Homan sat down on Fox News' Sunday Briefing this week.

Host Jacqui Heinrich asked him point blank whether Ilhan Omar is under investigation.

"I'm confirming that ICE is," he said, adding that "there's something that's been reported and needs to be looked at."

"We'll let HSI, Homeland Security Investigations, continue the investigation," Homan said, declining to detail the specific allegations.

"If someone committed an immigration violation, if someone committed marriage fraud or anything like that, regardless if they're a congressman or not, no one's above the law," Homan said.

Then he laid out exactly how a fraud finding turns into a denaturalization case.

"If someone lies through that process to becoming a citizen, and we can prove they in fact lied or misrepresent themselves, we can absolutely denaturalize them," Homan said.

Mullin's Marriage Fraud Claim Set the Stage for This Moment

Two days earlier, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin dropped the claim that started all of this.

Mullin said Omar "married her brother" in an effort to bring him into the United States, according to Townhall.

He suggested the marriage was part of a broader pattern of possible immigration fraud tied to her family.

Mullin told listeners "something's going to happen," signaling the investigation was moving toward a real outcome.

Omar has denied the allegation for years, calling the Republicans investigating her "sick" and calling the claims "lies."

Two of the administration's top immigration officials just said the opposite on the record, days apart.

Omar Has Already Been Down This Road Before

This is not the first financial red flag House Republicans have raised on Omar this year.

House Minority Whip Tom Emmer tore into her in April after Omar quietly revised a financial disclosure.

Her original filing claimed assets between $6 million and $30 million.

The corrected version put the real number between $18,004 and $95,000.

"Ilhan Omar is even more clueless than I thought if she thinks this financial disclosure revision clears her of suspicion," Emmer said, calling her "a fraud-enabling, racist antisemite" who should be "held accountable to the fullest extent."

House Oversight Chairman James Comer has separately pushed for scrutiny of Omar's ties to figures charged in Minnesota's Somali fraud scandal.

Omar's team blamed the multimillion-dollar swing on an "accounting error."

A congresswoman who can't keep her own bank account straight is now facing questions about whether she lied to become a citizen in the first place.

Omar Would Join a Record Wave of Citizenship Revocations

Denaturalization isn't some fringe legal theory Homan invented on the fly.

The Justice Department filed 25 denaturalization cases between July 20 and August 3 this year alone, the largest coordinated push in department history.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said citizenship "must be obtained lawfully and honestly," while Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate said every person targeted "committed crimes incompatible with U.S. citizenship."

Under the Immigration and Nationality Act, the government can revoke citizenship that was "illegally procured or procured by concealment of a material fact or by willful misrepresentation."

Marriage fraud on an immigration application fits that standard exactly.

If HSI proves it, Omar wouldn't be the first naturalized citizen caught in this net – but she'd be the highest-profile name yet.

Every case DOJ has filed so far involved private citizens with no national platform.

Omar has a seat in Congress, a national microphone, and a base of supporters ready to call this political persecution the moment paperwork gets filed.

That doesn't change the legal standard.

It just means this fight won't stay as quiet as the other 25 did.

Homan knows that, which is exactly why he chose his words on live television instead of leaving this to an anonymous leak.
