Biden Let a Venezuelan Into Montana and a Little Girl’s Family Is Now Left in Ruins
Joe Biden's open border reached a little girl in Flathead County, Montana.
Now that girl's abuser sits in a county jail – because Biden and Alejandro Mayorkas handed him the keys to get there.
What ICE just revealed about this case should end any debate about what catch and release actually costs.
The Monster Biden Delivered to Montana
Wualter Jesus Travieso Soto is a Venezuelan national who crossed into the United States illegally in 2023.
Biden's DHS caught him and let him go.
Soto made his way to Flathead County, Montana, where he moved in with a girlfriend and her three children.
That girlfriend died in a car crash in 2024.
Her three children were left in Soto's care.
In May 2025, the dead woman's sister found photos and videos on Soto's phone of him kissing the eldest daughter.
The children's aunt stepped in and took custody of all three kids.
That's when the girl told police what had really been happening.
Soto had raped her on multiple occasions.
He had also choked her.
Flathead County police arrested Soto on February 1, 2026.
He now faces felony charges of sexual intercourse without consent with a child under 16 and strangulation of a partner or family member.
He is currently being held in the Flathead County jail on $200,000 bail.
Mayorkas Built the Pipeline That Delivered Him Here
This case is not an accident.
It is the direct result of a policy Alejandro Mayorkas ran for four years – a policy that moved millions of illegal aliens through the border and dropped them into American communities with nothing more than a court date years away.
The House Judiciary Committee found that by December 2023, ICE was removing criminal aliens at a rate 41 percent lower than in fiscal year 2020 – and nearly 60 percent lower than the year before Trump left office.
More than 617,000 criminal aliens were walking free in the United States as a result.
Venezuelans flooded in at a historic rate – 334,914 border encounters in fiscal year 2023 alone, compared to just 4,520 in Trump's final year.
Mayorkas then extended Temporary Protected Status to an estimated 472,000 more Venezuelans who had already entered the country, including many who had crossed illegally.
The vetting problem was structural: Caracas had no interest in sharing criminal records with Washington, which meant Border Patrol was essentially processing Venezuelans blind.
They caught Soto anyway – and released him.
Biden Knew Exactly What His Policy Was Producing
Acting DHS Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis did not mince words when ICE announced the detainer against Soto.
"This monster repeatedly raped the child of his dead girlfriend," Bis said. "He would not be in this country in the first place if it weren't for the Biden Administration's disastrous catch and release policies that allowed him into our country."
ICE has lodged a formal detainer against Soto and is asking Flathead County not to release him from local custody.
If the county honors that detainer, Soto will be transferred to federal custody for deportation proceedings.
The damage, though, is already done.
Biden and Mayorkas made a policy decision in Washington and never had to live with the consequences.
That little girl in Flathead County did.
