A massive new scandal threatens to engulf the Democrat Party.

Donald Trump weighed in.

And you’ll be speechless when you hear why Trump said this top Democrat got arrested.

Feds indicted Democrat Congressman Henry Cuellar

A Department of Justice press release announced the indictment of Representative Henry Cuellar (D-TX) and his wife Imelda on two counts of conspiracy to commit bribery of a federal official and to have a public official act as an agent of a foreign principal, five years in prison on each count; two counts of bribery of a federal official, 15 years in prison on each count; two counts of conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud, 20 years in prison on each count; two counts of violating the ban on public officials acting as agents of a foreign principal, two years in prison on each count; one count of conspiracy to commit concealment money laundering, 20 years in prison; and five counts of money laundering, 20 years in prison on each count.”

Former President Donald Trump immediately smelled a rat.

At a Mar-a-Lago fundraiser, Trump told donors President Joe Biden indicted Cuellar for speaking out against his open borders agenda.

Trump said Cuellar “got indicted for political reasons, because he was tough on the border.”

Cuellar said Biden blundered when he reversed Title 42, the Trump-era policy that allowed the government to expedite removal of illegal aliens caught at the border back to their home countries.

He also criticized Biden for not paying attention to the border.

“I don’t know why they keep avoiding the border and saying there’s other things, more important things, than visiting the border. If there is a crisis, show up. Just show up,” an exasperated Cuellar told reporters in December 2022.

“Just showing up at the border would send a strong signal to the communities that he’s there, he cares about the border communities. Just show up! It doesn’t take much to just show up at the border,” Cuellar added.

What the indictment alleges

The Department of Justice charged Cuellar – who was the chairman of the Azerbaijan caucus in the House of Representatives – with accepting $600,000 in bribes from an energy company owned by the government of Azerbaijan and a bank located in Mexico.

“According to court documents, beginning in at least December 2014 and continuing through at least November 2021, Congressman Cuellar and Imelda Cuellar allegedly accepted approximately $600,000 in bribes from two foreign entities: an oil and gas company wholly owned and controlled by the Government of Azerbaijan, and a bank headquartered in Mexico City,” a press release announcing the indictment read.

The government claimed the bank and the energy company funneled the money through payments to shell companies controlled by Imelda Cuellar ostensibly for consulting contracts, for which she did no actual work.

“The bribe payments were allegedly laundered, pursuant to sham consulting contracts, through a series of front companies and middlemen into shell companies owned by Imelda Cuellar, who performed little to no legitimate work under the contracts,” the press release continued.

The Justice Department claimed Representative Cuellar was taking these bribes to influence foreign policy in favor of Azerbaijan’s interests and to induce the Biden administration to adopt regulations favorable to the Mexican bank.

“In exchange for the bribes paid by the Azerbaijani oil and gas company, Congressman Cuellar allegedly agreed to use his office to influence U.S. foreign policy in favor of Azerbaijan,” the release continued.

“In exchange for the bribes paid by the Mexican bank, Congressman Cuellar allegedly agreed to influence legislative activity and to advise and pressure high-ranking U.S. Executive Branch officials regarding measures beneficial to the bank,” the press release added.

Cuellar protested his innocence and claimed he ran this entire arrangement by lawyers and the House Ethics Committee before proceeding.

“I want to be clear that both my wife and I are innocent of these allegations,” Cuellar declared.

“Before I took any action, I proactively sought legal advice from the House Ethics Committee, who gave me more than one written opinion, along with an additional opinion from a national law firm,” Cuellar exclaimed.
