Workplace raids against illegal aliens are returning under Donald Trump
President Joe Biden’s administration refused to enforce the country’s immigration law and rolled out the welcome mat for illegal aliens at the southern border.
The illegal immigration crisis helped put President-elect Donald Trump into office.
Trump named former acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Tom Homan to serve as his Border Czar.
Homan is in charge of Trump’s plan to carry out the largest mass deportation of illegal aliens in the country’s history.
One of the policies that Homan is going to bring back is raids by ICE on worksites using illegal aliens.
The Biden administration scrapped the policy in 2021 as part of its strategy to handcuff ICE.
An ICE official told the Washington Post at the time that Biden “abolished ICE without abolishing ICE.”
Homan told the Post that worksite raids are going to ruffle some feathers.
“We haven’t really worked out the plan for worksite enforcement,” Homan said. “We know that employers are going to be upset.”
Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy is coming back
Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy was one of the most successful of his first term in securing the border.
The policy required that asylum seekers wait in Mexico until a federal immigration court hears their asylum claim.
More than 90% of the asylum claims made are rejected.
Biden repealed the policy when he took office in 2021.
Now, illegal aliens can make phony asylum claims and wait for years in the United States until a court hears their claim.
Trump promised to reinstate his Remain in Mexico policy on day one in office after he was inaugurated.
“On day one of my new administration, I will stop all migrant flights. I will shut down all entries through the migrant phone app. I will end catch-and-release. I will restore Remain in Mexico,” Trump said at a campaign rally in September. “We will seal the border.”
Families are going to be deported together
Democrats and their media allies melted down during Trump’s first term over his administration’s policy of deporting families back to their country of origin.
Homan said that illegal aliens who had children born in the United States would have a choice to make about their future.
“Here’s the issue,” Homan said. “You knew you were in the country illegally and chose to have a child. So you put your family in that position.”
Parents will have to decide if they leave their children behind in the United States or bring them back to their country of origin.
The goal will be to deport the entire family but that will be up the illegal alien on how the situation plays out.
Donald Trump is going to use every resource available to him to secure the border and begin the mass removal of illegal aliens once he takes office.
