Trump Says His 5000 Dollar Checks Happen 100 Percent and Johnson Just Explained How

Trump told America a check was coming and the number was five thousand dollars.
Speaker Mike Johnson just confirmed the money is real but the path runs through Capitol Hill.
That path is shorter than Democrats want you to believe.
Johnson Calls the Tariff Dividend a Creative Idea Worth Fighting For
Reporters cornered Johnson this week and asked the obvious question: can Trump just cut the checks himself.
"I would assume, yes, he'd need Congress to act, and that's a creative idea," Johnson said.
He didn't stop there.
"I commit that Congress will work through it and find consensus on that like they have to do everything else," Johnson said.
That's not a Speaker throwing cold water on his president.
That's a Speaker telling you exactly how Washington works, then signing up to make it happen anyway.
"He's the big idea's president," Johnson said. "We're going to try to implement everything we can."
Trump, for his part, isn't waiting around for permission slips from pundits.
He's already told the country the checks are happening "100 percent," tying the money directly to the tariff revenue his trade policy has hauled in from countries that spent decades ripping off American workers.
The Constitution Says Congress Writes the Checks and That's Not a Trump Problem
The Constitution's Appropriations Clause has required congressional sign-off on federal spending since 1789.
No money leaves the Treasury without a law passed by the House and Senate, full stop, no matter who's sitting in the Oval Office.
That's not a Trump loophole.
That's the same rule that applied when Congress cut checks during COVID.
Back in 2020, Congress passed the CARES Act and Trump signed it, sending $1,200 to Americans hit by lockdowns Democrat governors were begging for.
Congress came back and did it again in December 2020, then again under Biden in 2021.
Johnson made that exact point when Democrats tried calling Trump's dividend a "vote-buying scheme," pointing out Democrats authorized their own stimulus checks without a peep about buying votes.
It is and it’s a terrible idea for America.
This is What America Has Come to
Johnson didn't pretend this is a done deal, and that's exactly why it matters.
He tied that follow-through directly to Republicans keeping the House and Senate this November.
Lose the House in November, and the checks disappear with it.
Every American who wants that $5,000 tariff dividend now has a concrete, specific reason to show up in November and vote Republican.
Trump built the tariff wall that generated the revenue.
Johnson is building the legislative runway to land it in your bank account.
Democrats spent the last four years lecturing you about inflation while doing nothing to fix it, and now the same people are furious that tariff money collected from foreign nations might come back to you instead of funding another Green New Deal boondoggle.
This isn't a GOP civil war. This is a Speaker doing his job so a president's idea survives contact with reality.
Trump proposed the win. Johnson is building the bridge to cash it. That's not friction. That's the Constitution doing exactly what it's supposed to do.
It’s all socialism everywhere now.
