Tom Homan Just Laid the Leather on Critics of the New Gear He Got for ICE

Assaults on ICE agents have spiked more than 1,300 percent since Trump took office.

Now the agency wants to arm agents with something besides a firearm.

The tool Homan just defended is already dividing Washington before agents even get it.

Compliant Technologies Built a Glove That Stops a Fight Without a Single Bullet

DHS is planning to spend up to $20 million on a device called G.L.O.V.E., short for Generated Low Output Voltage Emitter.

A Kentucky company called Compliant Technologies LLC builds it.

The glove looks normal until an agent activates it, then a single touch delivers a jolt strong enough to stop a combative suspect cold.

No projectiles, no chase, no split second decision about pulling a trigger.

The manufacturer's own guidance keeps agents from using it on senior citizens, kids, pregnant women, or anyone with a serious disability.

ICE says agents will have to renew their certification every two years and are expected to try standard de-escalation tactics before ever reaching for the glove.

DHS could start handing the gloves out as early as March 2027.

Tom Homan didn't dodge the obvious question.

"It's another device to help someone get compliant when they are not," Homan said.

He said agents need real options between talking someone down and using a firearm, and right now they don't have enough of them.

A Kentucky jailer who already uses similar devices in his own facility says they typically get compliance within seconds.

He called them "safer on the inmate" and safer for staff, too.

DHS says assaults against ICE officers jumped more than 1,347 percent between January 2025 and January 2026.

Think about what that number actually means.

Agents are getting attacked at a rate this country has never seen doing a job that keeps criminals off American streets.

That's the tradeoff nobody wants to admit exists.

An agent with a non-lethal option doesn't have to choose between getting hurt and pulling a trigger.

Beshear Attacked the Gloves Made in His Own State

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear is one of the loudest critics of the plan, even though Compliant Technologies builds the gloves in his own state.

He called ICE "the worst-trained, most aggressive law enforcement unit I have ever seen" and demanded agents be pulled off the streets entirely for retraining.

A Democrat governor is demanding Washington disarm agents facing a level of violence ICE has never dealt with before, using a company from his own backyard as the punchline.

Every time law enforcement gets a new tool that keeps a violent encounter from turning fatal, the same script runs.

Critics call it dangerous before agents have even received a single unit.

They ran that same playbook when police departments adopted Tasers decades ago.

Tasers ended up saving thousands of lives that would have otherwise ended at gunpoint.

Nobody complaining about these gloves today has an answer for what the agents wearing them are up against every single day.

They don't want ICE to have a non-lethal option.

They want ICE to have no options at all.

Homan just told them no.
