Texas families know how brutal the summer heat can get.

Finding relief from those triple-digit temperatures becomes a daily mission.

And Six Flags just opened one massive water paradise that has Texas families racing to beat the heat.

Hurricane Harbor Arlington unveils record-breaking family attraction

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Arlington made the biggest splash of the summer when it unveiled Splash Island – the largest investment in the water park’s 42-year history.

The massive 58,000-square-foot family water playground opened its gates with 17 colorful water slides and more than 100 interactive water features designed to keep families cool under the scorching Texas sun.

"Splash Island was designed with our families in mind," Hurricane Harbor Park Manager Heather Blair told reporters. "It provides tons of fun for kids and parents alike, and a place for everyone to relax in the nearby cabanas while they savor our new food and beverage offerings."¹

The centerpiece of this aquatic wonderland is a towering 50-foot-tall multi-level treehouse play structure that dominates the landscape.

But it’s the Texas-sized tipping bucket carrying a whopping 1,000 gallons of water that really gets everyone’s attention.

Every few minutes, families gather below as the massive bucket fills to capacity before dumping its contents in a spectacular splash that sends kids and adults alike scrambling and laughing.

Park officials designed Splash Island with something for every age group – from toddlers splashing in the shallow areas to thrill-seekers racing down the steepest slides.

The 110 interactive water features include everything from water cannons and spray jets to climbing nets and dumping buckets scattered throughout the multi-level structure.

Enhanced amenities transform the park experience

Six Flags didn’t stop at just adding slides and splash zones.

The investment included a complete transformation of the guest experience with new double-decker family cabanas featuring comfortable beach furniture and prime views of all the action.

The park also received a fresh look with themed murals reminiscent of Galveston beaches, updated restrooms, and enhanced landscaping throughout the facility.

But perhaps the most mouth-watering addition is the completely reimagined Smokehouse on the Water restaurant.

The new menu features brisket and pulled pork – all smoked in-house – along with delicious side dishes like house-made macaroni and cheese, chopped salad, and fresh cornbread.²

"We can’t wait to be part of the cherished memories that guests of all ages will come to experience at Hurricane Harbor and Splash Island," Blair added.

Perfect timing for Texas families seeking summer relief

The opening of Splash Island couldn’t have come at a better time for North Texas families dealing with another scorching summer.

Hurricane Harbor Arlington already held the title as the largest water park in North Texas, featuring more than 40 rides and attractions including popular favorites like Typhoon Twister and Tsunami Surge.

Now with Splash Island added to the mix, families have even more reasons to make the trek to Arlington for their summer fun.

The timing of the opening – right in the heart of summer – shows Six Flags understands what Texas families need most when the thermometer climbs above 100 degrees.

Park officials report that advance ticket sales and season pass purchases have surged since announcing Splash Island’s opening.

The attraction represents exactly the kind of family-friendly investment that keeps regional theme parks competitive with larger destination resorts.

Hurricane Harbor Arlington operates daily through Labor Day, giving families plenty of opportunities to experience the new attraction before the season ends.

For families looking to beat the heat this summer, Splash Island offers 58,000 square feet of refreshing fun – and that Texas-sized tipping bucket alone is worth the trip.
