Pete Hegseth hit the ground running as the new Secretary of Defense.
He’s already got the Pentagon playing a new role.
And Pete Hegseth made one major decision that left Democrats with an awful feeling.
Guantanamo Bay is ready to house illegal aliens
President Donald Trump’s plan for the mass deportation of illegal aliens is off to the races.
One of the hurdles to deporting millions of illegal aliens is detaining them while they’re awaiting being flown back to their home countries.
Trump announced that 30,000 illegal aliens would be sent to the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth deployed to Guantanamo Bay as a member of the National Guard during the Global War on Terror.
He revealed that the capacity for housing illegal aliens at the naval base would go higher than 30,000 during an appearance on Fox News.
“We absolutely can and can increase it rapidly,” Hegseth said. “I served there, I know the places where this would happen. Guantanamo has long been a place for migrants. In fact, in the 90s, tens of thousands of Haitian and Cuban migrants staged there as part of a crisis.”
Former President Bill Clinton used Guantanamo during crises with Haiti and Cuba to house migrants trying to make it to Florida by boat.
“We have an even bigger crisis on our hands right now,” Hegseth added. “It was mentioned, 7,500 violent illegals [aliens] have been captured by ICE in the last nine days. God bless them, where do you move them? I tell you what, no one is going to be waiting on the Defense Department.”
Trump vowed to send the worst criminal illegal aliens to Guantanamo to keep the public safe.
The Defense Department is ready to step up to help with mass deportations
Hegseth said the Defense Department was ready, willing, and able to use Guantanamo to detain illegal aliens.
“We don’t want illegal criminals in the United States, not a minute longer than they have to be,” Hegseth explained. “Move them off to Guantanamo Bay where they can be safely maintained until they are deported to their final location, their country of origin where they are headed.”
“So we feel great about this plan, we know we can execute it,” Hegseth continued. “And the Defense Department is prepared to do everything we can. We applaud DHS and ICE what they’ve done, and we’re going to protect the American people.”
The Defense Department has taken an active role under Hegseth in helping secure the southern border and deporting illegal aliens.
Marines and members of the National Guard are deployed to the southern border to help with border security.
Hegseth noted that the prison that holds terrorists is only part of the base at Guantanamo Bay.
“President Trump is dead serious about getting illegal criminals out of our country,” Hegseth said. “And the DOD is not only willing to — it’s proud to — partner with DHS to defend the sovereignty of our southern border and advance that mission.”
Donald Trump is using the full weight of the federal government to secure the border and remove illegal aliens.
