Democrats are in a state of panic over President-elect Donald Trump’s plan for the mass deportation of illegal aliens. 

The Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on how illegal immigration is a benefit to the economy to provide some talking points against the incoming Trump administration. 

American Immigration Council senior fellow Aaron Reichlin-Melnick is an open borders supporter who works for a group that believes President Joe Biden’s border crisis was a net benefit to the country. 

Reichlin-Melnick has argued that Trump’s plan to deport illegal aliens would be devastating to the economy by robbing certain industries like agriculture, construction, and hospitality. 

U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) grilled him about his support for flooding the job market with illegal aliens during the hearing. 

“Why would you want American citizens and those who are here lawfully to have to compete against illegal immigrants who by the way are not always paid minimum wage, who are not given the federally mandated benefits precisely because they are here illegally,” Hawley said. 

Hawley pointed out that illegal aliens help drive down wages for Americans and keep them from getting jobs in sectors like construction and hospitality. 

“Why would you want to do that?” Hawley asked. “I read your testimony word for word, and I’ve been watching it and I know what the answer is. You don’t actually care about working people because you’re absolutely hellbent on this ideological agenda of opening our border.”

Reichlin-Melnick claimed that he supported a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens who wanted to stay in America.

Hawley broke down what Democrats were doing to the massive illegal immigration during the border crisis. 

“So just if you’re wondering America, here’s the Democrats’ plan,” Hawley explained. “Take the 13 million plus illegal [aliens] who are here taking jobs from Americans, taking wages down, taking healthcare benefits, and bring them here legally so they can continue to drive down wages, flood the labor force, and suppress all of the above.”

“Senator Hawley, they can’t flood the labor force if they’re already part of the labor force, which is an economic issue today,” Reichlin-Melnick claimed. 

Reichlin-Melnick tried to claim that illegal aliens entering the job market were driving up wages for Americans. 

Illegal aliens drive down wages by massively increasing the supply of workers available to be hired. 

This especially hurts Americans working in areas like hospitality and construction. 

“Oh really they’ve gone up over the past 15 years? They’re up? Yeah, they’re down,” Hawley said. “Way down. What world do you live in? … Let me just end with this. The American people had a good look at your economic record and then voted against it.”

American workers are given the short end of the stick by Democrats who prioritize illegal aliens.
