Charlamagne Spent Six Months Trashing ICE Then Flew Through LaGuardia and Destroyed His Own Argument

The Breakfast Club spent six months telling millions of listeners that ICE agents were masked thugs terrorizing innocent communities.
Last Friday, host Charlamagne Tha God walked through LaGuardia Airport and ran straight into the people he'd been warning his audience about.
What he told his listeners Monday morning is something Chuck Schumer does not want you to hear.
What Charlamagne Actually Saw at LaGuardia
Charlamagne flew out of LaGuardia Friday and noticed something immediately: no TSA agents anywhere in sight.
"ICE was doing everything," he told co-host DJ Envy on Monday.
Envy asked how the experience was.
"I mean, they were great to be honest with you," Charlamagne said. "They were being extra nice like Chick-fil-A workers."
That's not a small admission.
Charlamagne even noted the contrast himself – he said he couldn't believe these were the same agents his audience had been warned about for months.
"I was saying to myself, I'm like, 'There is no way in hell this is the same ICE agents that was on the streets of places like Minnesota with the mask on,'" he said.
Chuck Schumer Created This Situation
The only reason ICE agents were working security at LaGuardia in the first place is because Chuck Schumer shut down the Department of Homeland Security back in February.
Senate Democrats blocked DHS funding after two Minneapolis shootings involving federal agents – using those incidents as leverage to demand sweeping restrictions on ICE operations.
What they didn't think through: DHS funds the TSA.
Nearly 500 TSA agents quit when their paychecks stopped. Thousands more called out. At some airports, absence rates hit 40 percent. Lines at Houston's Bush Intercontinental stretched past the terminal doors.
President Trump deployed ICE agents to 14 airports to fill the gap.
Tom Homan, the White House border czar, was direct on Face the Nation Sunday: his agents were plugging the holes TSA couldn't fill – checking IDs, covering exit lanes, freeing up screeners to focus on the checkpoint machines that require actual training.
DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said TSA was "extremely grateful to the patriotic men and women of ICE" for stepping up.
Meanwhile, Congress left town for a two-week Easter recess.
Karoline Leavitt said Monday that Trump wants lawmakers to cut the vacation short and fully fund DHS. The shutdown is now the longest partial government shutdown in American history.
The Spin Tells You Everything
Charlamagne couldn't just say ICE was professional and move on.
That would have been too honest.
So he invented a conspiracy theory on the spot – suggesting the whole thing was a "psy-op for the midterms." The idea being that Trump made ICE act nice in airports so voters would accept seeing them at polling places in November.
Homan addressed that directly Sunday on CNN's State of the Union – he said he hadn't been involved in any conversations about ICE at polling sites.
But here's what's really going on.
Charlamagne saw with his own eyes exactly what Trump voters have been saying for a year: ICE agents are professional law enforcement officers doing a job.
The "masked thugs terrorizing communities" narrative was always a political construction – built by the same Democrats who deliberately starved TSA agents of their paychecks to win a standoff over immigration enforcement.
The spin was the tell. When someone's experience contradicts what they've been told to believe, they don't abandon the belief – they invent a reason the experience doesn't count.
That's not skepticism. That's what it looks like when the left's messaging finally meets someone who actually had to fly.
