A red state made one deal with Trump’s Border Czar that Democrats are going to hate
The Trump administration was left with massive problems to solve by Joe Biden.
It’s going to take all hands on deck to fix them.
And a red state made one deal with Trump’s “Border Czar” that Democrats are going to hate.
Mississippi bill would pay bounty hunters to nab illegal aliens
President Donald Trump launched a massive deportation operation on his first day in office.
Removing millions of illegal aliens from the country is no easy task.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has a limited number of agents to cover all 50 states.
That’s why states are pitching in to help the Trump administration round up illegal aliens.
Mississippi District Attorney Matthew Barton came up with a novel solution to get private citizens involved in the fight.
He proposed creating a program to reward bounty hunters $1,000 for every illegal alien they apprehended who was deported.
Mississippi State Representative Justin Keen (R-MS) introduced House Bill 1484 which would create the Mississippi Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunter Program.
Registered bounty hunters would get $1,000 for every illegal alien they helped deport.
Keen said the bill would help the state carry out Trump’s agenda.
“This legislation is about keeping Mississippi communities safe,” Keen said. “We’ve seen firsthand the danger posed by bad actors and violent criminals who enter this country illegally, like the innocent life of Laken Riley. President Trump’s administration has made it clear that deporting illegal immigrants is a priority, and we are proud to do our part here in Mississippi to help support his agenda and protect our citizens.”
Mississippi gets creative to help Donald Trump carry out deportations
The bounty hunter program would be funded by the Mississippi State Legislature.
Barton said that it would empower communities to take action against illegal immigration.
“When President Trump took office this week, he immediately recognized the emergency at our borders, rolling out executive orders to combat illegal immigration and cartels,” Barton said. “This legislation builds upon that foundation, empowering local leaders and communities to support federal efforts in protecting our citizens.”
He argued that the bill would save taxpayers money by reducing the costs associated with illegal immigration.
“Legal immigration is a cornerstone of America, and we must ensure that our borders are secure and that the safety of Mississippians comes first,” Barton added.
Mississippi’s bill comes on the heels of a similar bill that was introduced in Missouri.
A bill proposed there would offer a $1,000 reward to any citizen who reported an illegal alien to state and local authorities who was arrested.
Missouri State Senator David Gregory (R-MO) introduced Senate Bill 72 which allows the state’s Department of Public Safety to “develop an information system for people to report violations of this act which shall include a toll-free telephone hotline, e-mail and online reporting portal.”
The bill would also create the Missouri Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunter Program which would allow bail bondsmen to find and detain illegal aliens in the state.
