A Whistleblower Inside Letitia James’ Office Just Spilled the Tea on Her Orders to Hunt Trump
A prosecutor inside New York Attorney General Letitia James' office just called her a hypocrite.
Daniel Wiesenfeld sent that email to 2,000 of his colleagues before anyone could stop him.
Her staff is now on record saying she is doing exactly what she accuses Trump of doing.
The Email That 2000 Staffers Received Before It Was Deleted
Wiesenfeld is not a random disgruntled employee.
He is a former Brooklyn prosecutor who worked inside James' Investor Protection Bureau.
His direct boss, Bureau Chief Shamiso Maswoswe, allegedly instructed him to "find and pursue crimes" committed by Trump allies.
No specific credible complaint triggered the instruction.
No evidence of wrongdoing opened the investigation.
Just an order to go find something on people connected to Donald Trump.
The targets reportedly included Trump himself, Truth Social, and Hewlett Packard – which the Department of Justice had already cleared to complete a legitimate $14 billion merger with Juniper Networks.
The DOJ approved the deal.
James' office wanted to hunt it anyway.
Wiesenfeld put the comparison in writing and sent it to 2,000 colleagues: "If you believe Trump is using the DOJ attorneys to prosecute his enemies…you should find it equally troubling that Tish is doing exactly the same thing."
He went further: "I ask that you not serve as Tish's personal attorneys by targeting her political enemies."
James' office deleted the email.
Then they put Wiesenfeld on administrative leave.
James Built Her Entire Career On Promising to Go After One Man
Letitia James ran for attorney general in New York on an explicit campaign promise to go after Donald Trump.
She said it at campaign events.
She said it in fundraising materials.
She announced before she held the office – before she had the power, before she had seen a single piece of evidence – that going after Trump was the mission.
James prosecuted Trump and his business in a civil fraud case that produced a $454 million judgment.
She sued him before he won the 2024 election.
She announced her investigative intentions before he announced his candidacy.
Her entire political ascent in the Democratic Party was built on promising to target one private citizen.
And Wiesenfeld's email makes clear she brought that same mission inside the office walls.
The instruction to staff was not to investigate credible complaints.
It was to find crimes first – and build a case around them second.
That is not law enforcement.
That is a vendetta with a government budget.
James is herself now facing a federal indictment on fraud charges – a fact that makes her office's alleged habit of "finding crimes" to pin on political opponents more pointed, not less.
The Phrase Wiesenfeld Used That Democrats Cannot Answer
Wiesenfeld's specific phrase matters: "targeting her political enemies."
That is not a disgruntled employee venting about workplace frustrations.
That is a trained attorney, a former Brooklyn prosecutor, using the precise legal vocabulary of prosecutorial overreach to describe what he witnessed in his bureau.
He did not say James had aggressive enforcement priorities.
He did not say she pushed her team to be thorough on every case.
He said she ordered her office to target political enemies.
That phrase places James in exactly the same category as every corrupt DA and politically motivated prosecutor the conservative movement has been warning about for years.
And the timing could not be worse for the Democratic Party's core argument against Trump.
Every Democrat who has gone on television to accuse Trump of weaponizing the DOJ now has to answer for this: their most prominent state-level prosecutor allegedly told her staff to go find crimes and pin them on Trump allies.
James positioned herself as the guardian of the rule of law.
Her former prosecutor just said she ran the same operation she claims to oppose.
They deleted the email.
They couldn't delete the whistleblower.
