Protester Screamed Linda Davis Was Killed by ICE at Noem Hearing and Got Removed When the Truth Came Out

Linda Davis was driving to school when she died.

A beloved Savannah special education teacher, mother of five, headed down Whitefield Avenue toward Hesse K-8 on an ordinary Monday morning – and a Guatemalan illegal alien with a federal deportation order ran a red light fleeing from ICE and killed her.

Now Democrats are using her name as a weapon against the very agents who were trying to enforce the deportation order that should have kept her safe.

Protesters Removed From Kristi Noem Senate Judiciary Hearing

Tuesday's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing was supposed to be oversight of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.

What the left turned it into was something else entirely.

The moment Noem was sworn in, a protester jumped up and started screaming that Noem had "disgraced our agency" and that "FEMA employees should be responding to disasters, not ICE."

She was removed.

Then, during questioning by Senator Dick Durbin – a Democrat who has spent his career fighting deportations – another woman stood up from the gallery and started screaming about Linda Davis.

"Keith Porter Jr. and Dr. Linda Davis, they were Americans killed by ICE," she shouted.

"Say their names," she demanded.

"Their black lives matter."

She was removed too.

But here's what the protesters deliberately left out.

Linda Davis Was Killed by an Illegal Alien Fleeing a Deportation Order

Linda Davis was not killed by ICE.

She was killed by Oscar Vasquez-Lopez, a 38-year-old Guatemalan national who had been ordered deported by a federal immigration judge in 2024.

ICE agents tried to pull him over for an enforcement operation on the morning of February 16, 2026.

Vasquez-Lopez initially complied – then fled, running a red light and plowing into Davis's vehicle less than half a mile from Hesse K-8 School where she taught.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin put it squarely on the left – years of demonizing ICE agents and coaching illegals to resist arrest had made this kind of tragedy inevitable.

The law was clear: fleeing federal law enforcement is a felony, and it kills innocent people.

Linda Davis died because an illegal alien with a deportation order chose to run.

The protester screaming her name as a weapon against ICE has the story exactly backward.

Angel Families Were Watching

What made Tuesday's scene at the Senate hearing particularly striking was who else was in that room.

Angel Moms – parents who lost their own children to illegal alien crime – sat in attendance watching the protesters scream.

When activists started shouting about immigrants, the Angel families pushed back.

"You want to know who we are?" one said to the protesters. "We're families who lost loved ones to illegal alien crime."

The contrast told the whole story.

Democrats have constructed an entire political apparatus around protecting people who are here illegally and should have been deported years ago.

Angel families have been waiting for someone in Washington to fight for them – for the Americans who were killed, not the criminals who killed them.

Tuesday, they showed up.

Democrats Chose Their Side

Senator Dick Durbin used his questioning time to go after Noem while the screaming was happening from his side of the gallery.

That wasn't a coincidence – that's who the Democrat Party is right now.

They shut down DHS funding for three weeks, starving the agency of resources while Noem was forced to come to the Senate and justify protecting Americans.

They've fought mass deportations, sanctuary policies, any tool that might have removed Oscar Vasquez-Lopez before he ever had the chance to kill Linda Davis.

A federal immigration judge had already ordered that man deported in 2024.

Biden's DHS didn't act.

Democrats didn't care.

Linda Davis paid the price.

The protesters in that hearing room weren't honoring her – they were using her death to attack the agents who were trying to enforce the very order that should have gotten Vasquez-Lopez out of this country before she ever crossed his path.

That's the story Dick Durbin and his screaming supporters didn't want told at Tuesday's hearing.

Noem told it anyway.
