Jim Acosta is the poster child for the leftwing activists who pretend to be journalists.

Acosta served years as the face of the resistance media.

But now Jim Acosta may quit CNN over this phone call.

Are Jim Acosta’s days at CNN numbered?

Jim Acosta parlayed his grandstanding confrontations with Donald Trump in the first administration into an anchor gig at CNN.

However, Acosta’s days of self righteous denunciations of Donald Trump packaged as news no longer seem like a winning business strategy.

For the week of January 15, CNN’s ratings in primetime were down 31 percent from a year ago.

In the daytime – where Acosta anchored a show from 10AM to 12PM – ratings plunged 11 percent.

Now CNN is looking like it’s trying to force Acosta to quit without making it look like they are firing him.

Acosta is reportedly mulling over quitting CNN thanks to a programming shift by new CEO Mark Thompson.

The Los Angeles Times reported that “Acosta, a fixture on the Warner Bros./Discovery-owned network since 2007, is mulling a proposal from CNN Chairman and Chief Executive Mark Thompson to give up his daytime shift and move to Los Angeles to helm a two-hour nightly newscast that starts at midnight Eastern time.”

According to the Times, Thompson wants to move longtime CNN host Wolf Blitzer from 6PM to 10AM, Acosta’s current timeslot.

The offer on the table for Acosta is to uproot his family to Los Angeles and host a show in the 12AM to 2AM graveyard shift.

“Jim Acosta received a peculiar telephone call from CNN chief Mark Thompson. Thompson, I’m told, delivered the veteran journalist a sudden and strange proposal: Move your show to midnight and anchor it until 2am ET,” the Los Angeles Times reported.

CNN didn’t deny the rumors of Acosta quitting when asked by the New York Post.

“We are in active discussions with Jim about a new time slot and will have more information to share soon,” a CNN spokesperson said in a statement to the paper.

Thomspon could be looking to ease Acosta out as the “resistance media” strategy of the first Trump term is no longer in CNN’s business or editorial plans.

Anti-Trump activist Oliver Darcy reported that prior to the inauguration he wanted the network’s broadcasters to give Trump a fair shake.

“Thompson indicated to attendees, I’m told, that he wanted his journalists to be forward-thinking and to avoid pre-judging Trump. He cautioned against expressing any outrage of their own, as many of the anchors who make up CNN’s roster of journalists had previously done with regularity during Trump’s first term,” Darcy reported.

Darcy said Thompson “made it clear that he did not want the coverage to relitigate the past.”

CNN may also be trying to move past its “fake news” moniker Trump bestowed upon the network.

Jim Acosta is a noted purveyor of multiple anti-Trump hoaxes.

And in the end, Thompson may think the soft landing for Acosta is to be able to say “you can’t fire me, I quit!”
