Rand Paul revealed the first Democrat Donald Trump will send to jail
Donald Trump promised that his second term won’t be anything like his first term.
Trump is coming out of the gate swinging.
And Rand Paul revealed the first Democrat Donald Trump will send to jail.
Denver Mayor promises armed resistance to mass deportations
Donald Trump won an electoral mandate to carry out his proposed mass deportations of illegal immigrants.
Denver Mayor Mike Johnson pledged to deploy the Denver Police Department to repel by force any efforts by federal authorities to enter the city and remove illegal immigrants.
“More than us having DPD stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there,” Johnson told Denverite. “It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right?” You’d have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.”
In an interview with Denver’s Channel 9, Johnson backtracked on the idea of armed resistance to mass deportations.
“Would I have taken it back if I could? Yes, I probably wouldn’t have used that image,” Johnston admitted.
“That’s the image I hope we can avoid. What I was trying to say is this is an outcome I hope we can avoid in this country. I think none of us want that,” Johnson added.
But Johnson said he’d be willing to go to jail to resist mass deportations.
“I would if I believed that our residents are having their rights violated,” Johnson continued.
Johnson even went so far as to call mass deportations “un-American” even though polls show the proposal enjoys majority support.
“I think things are happening that are illegal or immoral or un-American in our city, I would certainly protest it, and I would expect other residents would do the same,” Johnson concluded.
An actual insurrection
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul didn’t mince words when discussing Johnson’s comments.
Paul told CBS Face the Nation host, Margaret Brennan, that Johnson will be removed from office if he resists lawful orders to deport illegal immigrants.
The Kentucky Senator also said criminal prosecution would be on the table.
“Now, I would say that the mayor of Denver, if he’s going to resist federal law, which there’s a longstanding history of the supremacy of federal law, he’s going to resist that it will go all the way to the Supreme Court. And I would suspect that he would be removed from office. I don’t know whether or not there’d be a criminal prosecution for someone resisting federal law, but he will lose,” Paul stated.
Paul warned that – unlike January 6 – what Johnson promises is an actual insurrection and there would be legal consequences for such behavior.
“And people need to realize that what he is offering is a form of insurrection, where the states resist the federal government. Most people objected to that and rejected that long ago. So I think the mayor of Denver is on the wrong side of history, and really, I think will face legal ramifications if he doesn’t obey the federal law,” Paul concluded.
