Trump Torched UNESCO with One Strategic Move That Left Globalists Scrambling

The global elite are in damage control mode after learning the price of their anti-American agenda.

President Trump just delivered the consequences they’ve been asking for.

And Trump torched UNESCO with one strategic move that left globalists scrambling.

Trump pulls America out of the woke globalist playground

President Donald Trump announced this week that the United States will withdraw from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), effective December 31, 2026.¹

The decision came after a comprehensive 90-day review that Trump ordered in February, specifically examining "any anti-Semitism or anti-Israel sentiment within the organization."²

What the review found wasn’t surprising to anyone who’s been paying attention to how these international bodies operate.

State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce didn’t mince words in explaining why America is walking away from this globalist money pit.

"UNESCO works to advance divisive social and cultural causes and maintains an outsized focus on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, a globalist, ideological agenda for international development at odds with our America First foreign policy," Bruce stated.³

The Trump administration made it crystal clear they weren’t about to subsidize an organization that actively works against American interests and promotes woke ideology on the international stage.

This isn’t Trump’s first rodeo with UNESCO either – he pulled America out during his first term in 2017, citing the same anti-Israel bias that continues to poison the organization.⁴

The anti-Israel bias that finally broke the camel’s back

UNESCO’s treatment of Israel has been nothing short of disgraceful for years.

The organization admitted the "State of Palestine" as a member state back in 2011 – a move that was "highly problematic, contrary to U.S. policy, and contributed to the proliferation of anti-Israel rhetoric within the organization," according to the State Department.⁵

But the bias goes much deeper than just membership politics.

Eugene Kontorovich, an international law professor at George Mason’s Antonin Scalia Law School and Heritage Foundation fellow, told The Daily Wire that UNESCO was "beyond reform."⁶

UNESCO has repeatedly designated Jewish holy sites as "Palestinian World Heritage Sites," including the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron.⁷

In 2016, the organization passed the Occupied Palestine Resolution, which completely erased any mention of the Jewish historical connection to the Temple Mount and referred to it solely by its Muslim name, "Al-Haram al-Sharif."⁸

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar welcomed Trump’s decision as "a necessary step, designed to promote justice and Israel’s right for fair treatment in the UN system."⁹

"Singling out Israel and politicization by member states must end, in this and all professional UN agencies," Sa’ar wrote on X Tuesday.¹⁰

The woke agenda that alienated America

Beyond its anti-Israel stance, UNESCO has been pushing the kind of progressive garbage that Americans thoroughly rejected in November.

White House deputy spokesperson Anna Kelly didn’t hold back in describing what UNESCO has become: "President Trump has decided to withdraw the United States from UNESCO – which supports woke, divisive cultural and social causes that are totally out-of-step with the commonsense policies that Americans voted for in November."¹¹

The organization has been accused of being a tool for China – which is now the second-largest funder – and promoting social justice initiatives that sound like they came straight out of a Berkeley faculty lounge.¹²

These include UNESCO’s 2023 "anti-racism toolkit" and its 2024 "Transforming MEN’talities" initiative.¹³

The State Department specifically called out UNESCO’s "outsized focus on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals," which include promoting gender equality, clean energy, and other globalist priorities that put international bureaucrats’ wishes ahead of American sovereignty.¹⁴

America First means saying no to globalist grift

This withdrawal is about more than just UNESCO – it’s about reasserting American independence from international bodies that see America as a piggy bank for their pet projects.

Since rejoining UNESCO in 2023 under Joe Biden, America has been facing significant annual financial obligations to the organization.¹⁵

That’s American taxpayer dollars going to an organization that actively promotes anti-American and anti-Israel positions.

Trump’s decision follows his broader pattern of withdrawing from international organizations that don’t serve American interests. He’s already pulled America out of the World Health Organization and halted funding to the Palestinian relief agency UNRWA.¹⁶

The message is clear: if you want American taxpayer dollars, you need to serve American interests.

UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay claimed she "deeply regretted" Trump’s decision but admitted the withdrawal was "anticipated."¹⁷

She tried to downplay the financial impact, noting that U.S. funding now represents only 8% of UNESCO’s budget compared to 40% for some UN entities.¹⁸

But her damage control can’t hide the fact that America’s withdrawal sends a powerful message to other international organizations: the gravy train stops when you bite the hand that feeds you.

The strategic brilliance of America First diplomacy

What makes this move particularly smart is the timing and messaging.

Trump didn’t just storm out – he conducted a thorough review, documented the problems, and provided clear justification for the withdrawal.

The 90-day assessment gave administration officials time to build a comprehensive case against UNESCO’s anti-American and anti-Israel policies.¹⁹

This methodical approach makes it much harder for critics to dismiss the decision as impulsive or purely political.

Conservative foreign policy experts are already praising the move as long overdue.

Professor Kontorovich noted that UNESCO was "beyond reform" not just because of its anti-Israel bias, but because "it’s championship of woke and progressive policies that go against American values."²⁰

The withdrawal also sends a message to other international bodies that might be tempted to push anti-American agendas while expecting American funding.

President Trump is showing that America First isn’t just a slogan – it’s a governing philosophy that puts American interests ahead of globalist virtue signaling.

This is exactly the kind of strategic thinking that Americans voted for in November when they rejected four more years of globalist governance.

Trump is systematically dismantling the international infrastructure that was designed to constrain American sovereignty and redirect American resources to global priorities.

The globalists are scrambling because they’re finally facing consequences for their anti-American agenda.

And this is just the beginning.
