Trump Just Dismantled 34 Biden Gun Rules in One Day and the Left Is Losing Its Mind

Biden spent four years turning law-abiding gun owners into criminals.

Trump just spent one afternoon undoing all of it.

And what the new ATF director did the moment he was confirmed will make every Second Amendment supporter in America stand up and cheer.

The Ink Was Still Wet on His Senate Confirmation

Minutes after the U.S. Senate confirmed Robert Cekada as ATF Director on April 29, he walked straight to a podium flanked by the country's top gun industry leaders and signed 34 regulatory changes in one sitting.

Thirty-four.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche called it the largest package of ATF rule changes in the last 15 years combined.

At the top of the list: killing Biden's "gun show loophole" rule – the 2024 regulation that tried to force background checks on private sellers and treat ordinary gun owners like federal firearms dealers.

Gone.

Biden's pistol brace rule – the 2023 regulation that would have turned 29 million law-abiding Americans into felons overnight for owning a perfectly legal accessory – formally dead.

Gone.

And a proposal to let Americans ship handguns through the mail, restoring a right blocked by a 1927 statute the Justice Department's own lawyers declared unconstitutional?

On the table and moving forward.

Blanche said it plainly: "The Second Amendment is not a second-class right. This Department of Justice is ending the weaponization of federal authority against law-abiding gun owners."

What Biden's ATF Actually Did to Gun Owners

Biden's ATF didn't pass laws through Congress. They couldn't. They didn't have the votes.

So instead, Biden weaponized the regulatory state to do what democracy wouldn't let him do.

His 2023 pistol brace rule reclassified a common shooting accessory – one designed specifically to help disabled veterans fire a handgun with one hand – as a "short-barreled rifle" under the National Firearms Act.

Own one without registering it? Ten years in prison. Ten thousand dollar fine.

Courts didn't buy it. The 5th Circuit blocked it. The 8th Circuit called it unconstitutional. A Texas federal judge vacated it entirely.

Every court that examined this rule reached the same conclusion: Biden's ATF had exceeded its statutory authority and created something so vague that ordinary Americans couldn't comply even if they tried.

The Second Amendment Foundation's Executive Director Adam Kraut put it simply after the rollback: "It was refreshing to hear that the Second Amendment will no longer be treated as a second-class right."

That one sentence tells you everything about the last four years.

This Is What Winning Looks Like

In addition to killing the pistol brace rule and the gun show power grab, Trump's ATF package removes the mandate forcing licensed sellers to post youth handgun safety notices, makes it harder for federal regulators to revoke gun dealers' licenses over minor paperwork errors, and makes it easier to transport firearms across state lines.

Biden's ATF had used minor recordkeeping mistakes as a pretext to strip dealer licenses and shut down gun shops. That weapon is gone.

Senator John Cornyn and 29 Republican colleagues had been demanding exactly this since February 2025, sending a formal letter to the ATF urging alignment with Trump's Second Amendment executive order and the rescission of Biden's unconstitutional rules.

Trump delivered.

Cekada, for his part, was direct about where ATF's enforcement focus now lands: "Our enforcement focus from here on out is on willful violators and criminal actors, not inadvertent compliance issues by responsible owners and licensees."

The NRA-ILA's executive director John Commerford has called the Trump administration's approach to gun rights a "golden age of the Second Amendment." After Wednesday, it's hard to argue with him.

Democrats Built a Regulatory Trap and Trump Burned It Down

The left will tell you this rollback is dangerous. That criminals will run wild. That guns will flood the streets.

They always say that. They said it after shall-issue carry laws passed. They said it when the Supreme Court ruled in Heller. They said it when Bruen expanded carry rights nationwide.

None of their predictions came true.

Here's what actually happened under Biden's gun rules: the ATF's own announcement admitted the gun show loophole rule "failed to produce the expected enforcement outcomes." It didn't stop a single criminal. It just harassed honest people.

That's the whole story. Biden's gun agenda was never about crime. It was about using unelected bureaucrats to disarm the Americans who voted against him – one regulation at a time.

Trump didn't just repeal 34 rules. He acknowledged what Democrats spent four years pretending wasn't true: the federal government had been violating the Second Amendment rights of millions of Americans, and that ends now.

Your rights are back.
