Trey Gowdy went on Fox News and made one gesture that Donald Trump couldn’t believe
Former South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy found himself in the crosshairs.
Gowdy knew there was only one way out.
And Trey Gowdy went on Fox News and made one gesture that Donald Trump couldn’t believe.
The Justice Department and the FBI were hives of deep state conspirators plotting Donald Trump’s downfall.
Because Donald Trump had weak Attorneys General in his first term, the FBI ran roughshod with the Russia collusion hoax and pressuring Facebook and Twitter to censor the New York Post’s story about Hunter Biden’s laptop – which became the basis for criminal charges and Hunter Biden’s eventual blanket pardon – in the closing weeks of the 2020 election.
Joe Biden then further weaponized both agencies and Attorney General Merrick Garland ordered an FBI goon squad to raid Mar-a-Lago during the documents hoax.
Jack Smith – Biden and Garland’s handpicked prosecutor – then indicted Donald Trump twice to try and meddle in the 2024 election.
Trey Gowdy helped sink Matt Gaetz’s nomination to serve as Attorney General.
Gowdy was appalled that Gaetz planned to come in and fire all the rogue prosecutors that targeted Donald Trump and his supporters over the last eight years.
Every time Gowdy appeared on Fox News, he railed against Gaetz and demanded Senate Republicans oppose Gaetz’s nomination.
Senate RINOs used Gowdy’s commentary as cover to hold firm in their opposition to Gaetz, even though Donald Trump worked the phones to personally lobby Senators on Gaetz’s behalf.
Gaetz withdrew his nomination after just eight days.
Many Trump supporters also thought Gowdy may try and destroy Trump’s pick to reform the FBI.
As a former federal prosecutor, Gowdy is on team deep state when it comes to the FBI and Justice Department.
And Trump supporters were worried about comments Gowdy made during the Russian collusion hoax back when he was in Congress where he said the FBI did the right thing in launching the witch hunt and investigating the Trump campaign.
“I am more convinced that the FBI did what my fellow citizens would want them to do when they got the information they got and that it has nothing to do with Donald Trump,” Gowdy said on Fox News at the time.
But Gowdy knew he could only push his luck so far.
When Donald Trump nominated Kash Patel to serve as FBI Director Gowdy gave Patel a ringing endorsement.
Gowdy told Fox News that Patel was a key staffer on the House Intelligence Committee when Gowdy served on that panel.
Gowdy also praised Patel’s background – he served as a federal prosecutor in the national security division of the Justice Department and won an award for prosecuting terrorists – as perfectly suited to run the FBI.
“I worked elbow to elbow with Kash – former federal prosecutor, former federal public defender, unique background – I think he has been unfairly maligned. He will have a confirmation hearing and we shall see what comes out,” Gowdy stated.
Gowdy also reminded viewers that it was Patel’s work on the House Intelligence Committee that unearthed the fact that the Steele dossier was a hoax paid for by the Clinton campaign as well as identifying how the FBI broke the law in illegally spying on the Trump campaign.
“We wouldn’t know about the Steele dossier if it wasn’t for Kash Patel,” Gowdy continued.
Gowdy’s words could go a long way towards convincing Senate RINOs to support Patel’s nomination.
