Donald Trump and his supporters couldn’t believe what they were watching.

One of Trump’s allies turned on him in a very public fashion.

And Trey Gowdy picked a fight with Donald Trump for this ugly reason.

Trey Gowdy opposes Donald Trump’s Attorney General nomination

Donald Trump needs an Attorney General who will crackdown on the lawfare and fire deep state agents that ran information operations like the Russia collusion hoax, the January 6 insurrection hoax, and the Mar-a-Lago documents hoax in an effort to subvert democracy and deny the American people their constitutionally guaranteed right to elect Donald Trump as their President.

Trump tapped Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz to take on the mission of smashing the Justice Department’s deep state conspiracies.

The swamp mustered all their resources and called in every marker to enlist every possible ally to thwart Gaetz’s nomination.

That included regurgitating an information operation the Biden-Kamala Harris Justice Department ran against Gaetz back in 2021 and 2022.

The deep state tried to destroy Gaetz because he was too effective in defending Donald Trump.

And Trey Gowdy cast his lot with the deep state and predicted Gaetz’s nomination would fail.

“I’m going to be really surprised if he can get confirmed,” Gowdy said on Fox News.

Gowdy’s history of siding with the swamp

This isn’t the first time Gowdy chose the swamp’s side in a fight with Gaetz.

Conservatives were furious with Speaker of the House Mike Johnson for rolling over for Joe Biden in spending negotiations.

Gowdy claimed Johnson wasn’t at fault for agreeing to fully fund Joe Biden’s government.

Instead, Gowdy blamed Matt Gaetz for leading the push to remove House Speaker Kevin McCarthy – Johnson’s predecessor – after McCarthy went back on his word and handed Joe Biden a blank check to raise the debt ceiling through January 2025.

“You and I would not be talking about Speaker Mike Johnson had it not been for Matt Gaetz and seven of his comrades who decided to pursue fame and get rid of Kevin McCarthy. What have they gotten as a result of that? How has the House been improved?” Gowdy declared at the time.

“What person that can pass a competency test would want to be the speaker of the House? What person who could actually pass a psychiatric competency test would want to lead a group that includes Matt Gaetz and Bob Good and some of the other people that you just showed? I mean, Mike Johnson is as good as it gets. You had a speaker. Remember, you had Kevin McCarthy. And you wanted to get rid of him and Jimmy Jordan wasn’t good enough and Tom Emmer and Steve Scalise. No, you got Mike Johnson,” Gowdy added.

Trey Gowdy was elected as part of the Tea Party wave in 2010.

But somewhere in the last 14 years, Gowdy forgot where he came from.
