This possible Trump pick could cause him huge problems with his MAGA base

President-elect Donald Trump is moving fast and furious to fill his cabinet.

And for the most part Trump loyalists are overwhelmingly pleased with his picks.

But this possible Trump pick could cause him huge problems with his MAGA base.

Never secured the Republican base

Former congressman Mike Rogers made a run for U.S. Senate in his home state of Michigan.

While Rogers was able to secure the GOP nomination, he was unable to win the general election against Democrat Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin in an open seat.

A big reason for his loss was his inability to secure the conservative base in his own party.

Rogers was considered a moderate with no real conservative credentials.

And in what became a big problem for him, Rogers has a long history of supporting and defending the surveillance state.

He has supported warrantless wire taps on American citizens and even went so far as to say he wishes the intelligence community never needed warrants to spy on Americans.

Conservatives, liberty movement activists, and a huge swath of MAGA just couldn’t stomach Rogers’ support of spying on their fellow Americans.

Especially since much of that spying has been against the very conservative and Christian activists Rogers needed to win his seat.

But Rogers’ political career may not be over, even though it should.

Now there are rumors floating that President-elect Trump is looking at Rogers to be his Director of the FBI.

These rumors have already caused significant backlash from President Trump’s most ardent supporters.

It’s not a done deal

But, despite the rumors, Trump and his transition team have remained mum on the possibility of Rogers joining his administration.

For many in MAGA world, that is a good sign.

And opposition to Rogers is growing by the day.

This means Trump’s advisors may be having second thoughts about bringing Rogers on as the head of the FBI.

The fact is, putting Rogers in charge of the FBI is like putting the fox in charge of the henhouse.

The unprecedented lawfare by the FBI and DOJ against Trump, his supporters, and the American people shows the agency must be reformed, if not disbanded.

But Rogers has already shown he is not the type of reformer needed at the helm of the FBI.

Currently there appears to be two leading choices to lead the FBI in Trump’s second term, Rogers, and Kash Patel — a former Trump administration official who’s talked openly about revenge cleaning house at the FBI and even prosecuting those who targeted Trump and his supporters.

The FBI director is a particularly sensitive position for President Trump.

Trump fired former Director James Comey and is expected to quickly try to replace current Director Christopher Wray, Comey’s successor.

Trump’s frustration with Wray and the bureau for their politicization of its investigations hit a fever pitch following the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago in 2022.

This is exactly why Rogers would be a very bad choice to head up the FBI.

The FBI needs a real reformer at the helm, someone who will make significant changes to the bureau and stop its unconstitutional attacks on the American people.

Rogers simply is not the man for the job.
