Now she has broken that silence with news nobody expected to hear from her.

Rosie O'Donnell Is Coming Back, but Not the Way You Think
O'Donnell confirmed on The Tangle podcast that she will appear on The View's 30th anniversary season this fall.
The catch is that she is coming back "just as a guest," not as a co-host.
She confirmed ABC plans to bring back every former host for the milestone broadcast, all under that same guest arrangement.
It will be her first appearance on that stage since she walked away from the show for a second time in 2015.
O'Donnell co-hosted The View twice and finished neither run.
The first stint ended in 2007 after an on-air explosion with Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
Producers split the screen during that fight just to keep the two women apart.
The second stint, in 2014, lasted a single season before she walked again, this time over tension with Whoopi Goldberg.
Now the same woman who could not survive one full season twice is coming back for a reunion built entirely on nostalgia for a show she kept quitting.
The Feud That Sent Her Packing Never Actually Went Away
O'Donnell moved to Ireland in January 2025, days before Trump's inauguration, and has called America unsafe ever since.
Trump answered by threatening on Truth Social to strip her citizenship outright.
He called her "a Threat to Humanity."
The 14th Amendment settles that fight anyway, since O'Donnell is a native New Yorker born in Commack.
The White House never backed off either.
Spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told Fox News Digital that "every day that Rosie isn't in America is a great day for American citizens."
None of that has kept O'Donnell away from home for long.
She flew back in February for two weeks and told no one about it.
She showed up at the Tony Awards in June.
She reunited with Goldberg backstage at a Broadway show the same month.

O'Donnell has described working alongside Goldberg as one of the hardest stretches of her career.
She has said Goldberg felt threatened by her return to the show in 2014.
O'Donnell insists the two have patched things up.
Goldberg spoke warmly about her on-air in June, days after Rosie's facelift made headlines.
The View has never been short on exits.
Hasselbeck, Barbara Walters, Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy have all come and gone.
O'Donnell is the only one ABC keeps inviting back despite two separate implosions.
That alone tells you what the network thinks ratings need heading into a milestone season.
Rosie O'Donnell spent years insisting she was through with The View and through with America.
Now she has confirmed she is coming back to both, on a single guest chair, for one night built entirely on nostalgia.
Whoopi Goldberg gets to find out on camera, in front of a national audience, whether the peace she described in June was real or just good television.
The catch was never whether Rosie would show up.
It was always going to be what happens the moment she does.
