Mike Rowe’s been an evangelist of the value of hard work and the idea that no job is beneath the dignity of anyone.

He had a new message he wanted to communicate.

And Mike Rowe left Tucker Carlson stunned by speaking one simple truth.

Rowe reveals young Americans question the value of a college education

Dirty Jobs host Mike Rowe was the latest guest on former Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s interview program where the two discussed the declining value of a college education.

“Do you see any evidence that, I know people are listening to you, and I, again, would argue I haven’t seen anyone kind of refute what you’re saying,” Carlson began. “But do you have any sense that it’s there’s changing, that it’s moving?”

Rowe said there was and that the public was finally catching up to where he was 15 years ago on the utility – or lack thereof – of a college degree.

“If you look for it, you’ll see it everywhere. It’s mind-boggling,” Rowe responded. “And this was kind of a wake-up call for me because for 15 years I’ve been talking about this deeply held belief.”

Rowe explained that Gen Z Americans – the nation’s youngest cohort – no longer placed as great a value on going to college because of the expense.

“The parents and guidance counselors are, truly believe that the best path for their kids, is this most expensive path,” Rowe added. “But the latest research. When you really sit people down and take a deep, deep dive … Gen Z right now is ranking the importance of a college education out of 50 different things at 47.”

“That seems high,” Carlson snarked.

What is the value of a college education?

Rowe said coming out of college with $200,000 in debt and a liberal arts degree with no practical use no longer seemed appealing to America’s youth.

“Well, it used to be three, right? But in the course of the last 5 or 6 years, like a lot of people, it made me wonder, has something shifted? It in that generation that I just haven’t seen, and I’m hopeful that it has,” Rowe said. “People are starting to get the message that just because you’ve got $200,000 in debt and a nice diploma doesn’t mean the world is going to beat a pathway to your door. It doesn’t mean you’re going to get hired in your chosen field.”

And for parents, the idea of sending their children to woke hive minds like these college campuses also didn’t strike them as a great bargain.

A recent scene at Vanderbilt University – one of the most prestigious schools in all of America – showed the hideous state of affairs on college campuses.

Pro-Hamas students staged a sit-in and were arrested.

They compared Nashville – a city where every celebrity in America wants to live and party – to the Middle East and compared the police to genocidal oppressors.

The students all wore pandemic masks while whining and crying on behalf of Hamas terrorists who would slaughter them in an instant.
