Michael Douglas told Bill Maher one surprising thing happened after Trump won
Michael Douglas is a Hollywood icon.
Like virtually everyone else in the entertainment industry, Douglas backed Kamala Harris.
And Michael Douglas told Bill Maher one surprising thing happened after Trump won.
Michael Douglas’ reaction to Trump winning
Academy Award winning actor Michael Douglas was a guest on Bill Maher’s Real Time show following the election.
A common theme on the episode was Maher and others on the Left stunned by how decisively Trump won the election.
Maher took the election in stride and said leftists had nothing to panic over.
“A lot of people are freaking out. You know what? I opened the window today, the sun was still shining, the birds were still singing, my gardener was packing for Mexico, that’s the thing,” Maher stated.
But Maher said his fellow Democrats should have seen the Trump blowout coming.
“For months, Democrats have been saying, ‘How is this even close?’ And they’re right, it wasn’t. They could not conceive of a second Trump term, but they should have. When does America ever turn down seconds?” Maher joked.
Maher then brought Douglas out for an interview where Douglas explained he was stewing over the election results as he thought the race would go down to the wire.
Douglas said his anger grew as it quickly became clear Trump was going to win in a landslide.
“The other thing I just have to share, after Tuesday night, Wednesday morning, [I’m] just so pissed at this razor-thin race,” Douglas began.
Douglas said he was so angry over the results that he played golf the next morning to get his mind off politics.
And during the round Douglas scored a hole in one.
“It was gonna be so close, with all these polls … and it’s a wipeout. I had no idea how that could happen. So, I go down Wednesday morning to play golf just to clear my mind. I go play nine holes, and I get a hole-in-one,” Douglas added.
Douglas also expressed disbelief that Democrats are now the party of the professional managerial class and media, business and entertainment elites whereas now the GOP is the party of the multi-racial working-class majority.
“The very fact now that we can talk about Republicans as being the party for the people, and we are this elitist party on the Left, Democrats, is wild,” Douglas continued.
The Left didn’t riot in the streets.
Media outlets toned down their coverage and didn’t act like American democracy was about to end because Trump won.
Trump scored such a smashing victory winning both the Electoral College and the popular vote that Trump’s opponents finally had to admit that the majority of the county supports Trump and his MAGA agenda.
And that sucked all the life out of what was sure to be the planned resistance to Trump’s second term.
