Megyn Kelly Just Proved That a Former Never-Trumper Is Now Running Foreign Policy

Trump ran for president in 2016 calling the Iraq War a catastrophic mistake.

Now he's defending the man who cheered for it – and going after the woman who stood up to say the same thing Trump used to.

That tells you exactly where the bad advice is coming from.

Mark Levin Megyn Kelly Feud Explodes

Mark Levin spent 2016 declaring he would never vote for Donald Trump.

He was among the loudest Never-Trump voices in conservative media – a man who endorsed Ted Cruz and urged his listeners to stay home or vote third party.

Then Trump won. Then Trump won again. And Levin found religion fast.

Today Levin is among the most aggressive champions of America's new war in Iran – a war that has killed thirteen American servicemen in three weeks, closed the Strait of Hormuz, and sent oil prices toward $200 a barrel.

Megyn Kelly has been asking the obvious question: Who exactly wanted this war, and for whom?

When Kelly pointed out publicly that Levin and other "Israel firsters" were the loudest drumbeaters for Operation Epic Fury, Levin went into full attack mode.

He called her "an emotionally unhinged, lewd, and petulant wreck."

He posted about her over a hundred times since November.

When Kelly fired back and the internet sided with her, Levin looked very small indeed.

Mark Levin Iran War Cheerleading and the Neocon Voices Steering Trump Wrong

Here is what Trump got right and what he's gotten wrong.

Trump was right when he called the Iraq War a catastrophe.

He was right when he ran on an America First platform that said endless wars in the Middle East cost American blood and American treasure for results that never materialized.

He was right when he promised a different foreign policy – one built on strength, not on nation-building or serving as someone else's air force and infantry.

Those instincts were correct. They're why millions of Americans pulled the lever for him twice.

But at some point in the last year, those instincts got overridden.

A network of Washington hawks – many of them the same figures who sold America the Iraq War – worked quietly to push the Trump administration toward military action in Iran.

Think tanks with deep ties to foreign policy interventionists. Advisers with agendas that don't start and end with American interests. Media voices whose first loyalty is to a foreign capital, not this one.

Levin was among the loudest of those voices – cheerleading for strikes before the first bomb dropped, dismissing every skeptic as a traitor or a coward.

Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson, MTG, and others who asked hard questions got branded as enemies of MAGA.

Then Trump made it official – you're either with Levin, or you're not MAGA.

Megyn Kelly and the MAGA Civil War Over Operation Epic Fury

Rand Paul said it plainly: Trump's "natural instinct not to send troops into the Middle East" was the right one.

The question worth asking is what changed.

Three weeks into a shooting war, American blood has been spilled, global shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is disrupted, and financial markets are pricing in a recession.

And the president used his Sunday night to post 300 words defending a former Never-Trumper against a woman whose main offense was asking whether this war was really in America's interest.

Megyn Kelly did not support the MAGA movement to enable war hawks.

Neither did most of the people who voted for Donald Trump.

The original America First promise was simple: no more stupid wars, no more sending American kids to die for someone else's agenda.

Kelly is holding Trump to that promise.

The president should consider whether the voices urging him to silence that conversation are the same ones who gave us Iraq.

Just consider what he said just last year about Liz Cheney.
