Karoline Leavitt is Back and She Just Destroyed the Left for Wearing Algae Costumes While Trump Cleaned Up Their Mess

Washington, DC recorded 274 murders in 2023 – the deadliest year in the capital in decades.
Trump fixed it, and now the Left is dressing up as algae to protest.
You need to hear what Karoline Leavitt said when she saw them.
What "Team Algae" Actually Tells You About the Democrat Party
When leftist protesters showed up to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool last weekend in green algae costumes waving "Team Algae" signs, they thought they were scoring points.
What they actually did was prove Karoline Leavitt's point for her.
"It's unbelievable to see these people, these deranged leftists in algae costumes with 'Team Algae' on their backs," Leavitt said in a Fox News interview Tuesday.
Then she asked the question nobody on the left can answer.
"What does that even mean?"
She wasn't done.
"Only the Democrats could hate beautifying our nation's capital and making it a symbol of pride again."
Think about that for a second.
The left – the people who spent years letting tent cities consume the National Mall and watching homicides climb to 274 in a single year – are now rooting for algae in a renovated pool.
That's the opposition. That's what they've got.
The Numbers Democrats Don't Want You to See
While Team Algae was cheering for green water, the Trump administration was releasing the kind of numbers that explain why Democrats need a distraction.
The D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force – launched March 28, 2025 – has logged over 13,100 arrests in the District and put 1,400 guns out of circulation.
Homicides are down more than 50% from this point last year. Robberies down 42%. Carjackings down 60%.
In 2023 – the last full year Democrats ran D.C. without federal intervention – 274 people were murdered in the capital city of the United States of America.
By 2025, that number had fallen to 127. This year, there have been just 20 murders through late June, compared to 42 at this point in 2025.
That's not a trend. That's a transformation.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro put it plainly: "To the criminals who thought D.C. was an easy target – those days are over."
Trump Made a Promise and Kept It
Leavitt made the point Democrats hate most – that this was a campaign promise fulfilled.
"This is what the American people elected President Trump to do," she said. "He made this promise to them on the campaign trail that he was going to make our nation's capital both safe and beautiful again, and it is a promise that he has kept."
She's right. And the results are visible.
The task force has scrubbed 45 iconic monuments and memorials clean, cleared more than 500 graffiti sites across the city, fixed 1,695 lights, and installed 134 rat-resistant trash cans.
Meridian Hill Park – which drug addicts and homeless encampments had taken over for years – is now a place where families actually go.
Columbus Circle at Union Station? Completely restored and just reopened.
More than 120 monuments restored across the city. Six new statues installed, including the Caesar Rodney statue that rioters tore down in 2020.
"The parks are cleaned up," Leavitt said. "With respect to the beautification of the city, I live here, working at the White House, and you can see it with your own eyes as you travel throughout the city."
What the Algae Story Actually Is
Yes, the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool developed an algae bloom after its $14.65 million renovation.
The Interior Department deployed hydrogen peroxide treatments and nanobubble ozone technology to fight it, with crews working the site daily.
But here's what Team Algae doesn't want to talk about: algae blooms happen every time the Reflecting Pool is refilled. The Interior Department said so publicly. It's a recurring problem that predates Trump by decades.
What's different now is that someone is actually trying to fix it – spending real money and deploying real technology – instead of letting the city rot the way Democrats did for years.
The left mocking the reflecting pool is like arsonists laughing at firefighters for getting their clothes dirty.
Seventeen police reports. Six arrests. And protesters in frog costumes cheering for the algae.
That's the Democrat Party in 2026.
