Kamala Harris woke up to one bad problem in the one state she can’t afford to lose
Kamala Harris’ problems are multiplying the closer Election Day gets.
Now, she’s dealing with negative news cycles on issues that could spell doom.
And Kamala Harris woke up to one bad problem in the one state she can’t afford to lose.
Problems in Pennsylvania
There is no Electoral College path to 270 votes for Vice President Kamala Harris without Pennsylvania.
This is a must-win state.
Currently, the polls show former President Donald Trump holding a narrow lead in the Keystone State.
RealClearPolitics shows Trump holding a 0.3% edge over Kamala in Pennsylvania.
For a variety of reasons – Kamala Harris’ support for abortion on demand alienating the 25 percent of the state who is Catholic, her past support for banning fracking, and Trump’s gains with black and Hispanic voters – Pennsylvania is viewed by Democrats as the toughest of the Rust Belt states for her to win.
But in a narrow race, a turnout operation can make all the difference.
That’s where Kamala Harris’ billion-dollar campaign machine was supposed to come into play.
Except three weeks out from the election, Democrats are leaking to the media that they are in full-on panic mode about the state of Kamala’s get-out-the-vote operation, specifically in Philadelphia.
“They say some Harris aides lack relationships with key party figures, particularly in Philadelphia and its suburbs. They complain they have been left out of events and surrogates haven’t been deployed effectively. And they’ve urged Harris staff in private meetings to do more to turn out voters of color,” POLITICO reports.
A scapegoat emerges
The villain of the story – according to POLITICO and Democrats – is Kamala’s Pennsylvania campaign manager Nikki Lu.
“Some are even pointing fingers at Harris’ Pennsylvania campaign manager, Nikki Lu, who they say lacks deep knowledge of Philadelphia, where the vice president must drive up voter turnout in order to win,” POLITICO reports.
Democrats describe Lu as incompetent and out of her depth.
“I have concerns about Nikki Lu,” union boss Ryan Boyer told POLITICO. “I don’t think she understands Philadelphia.”
POLITICO also reported that “A second Democratic elected official in the state described Lu as ‘AWOL.’ A Pennsylvania Democratic strategist said that Lu ‘empowers a culture’ in the campaign that has left elected officials feeling unengaged and disrespected.”
Democrats leaking to the media ahead of time is an attempt to shake the Kamala Harris campaign out of its slumber.
But campaigns can only go as far as the candidate allows.
And Kamala has yet to convince swing voters that she isn’t the left-wing extremist she ran for President as in 2020.
Nor has shown the ability to string two coherent sentences together in interviews to demonstrate to voters that she understands the problems they face and would come into office with a set of solutions to make their lives better.
