In a letter to Department of Justice’s Chief of the Public Integrity Section Corey Amundson, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) accused the Kamala Harris-Joe Biden administration of violating the Hatch Act by running a $5 billion demonstration program to stave off Medicare premium increases brought about by so-called “Inflation Reduction” Act.
The Hatch Act prevents government employees from engaging in political activities in their official capacity.
“My colleagues and I are concerned that the Biden-Harris Administration is inappropriately using taxpayer funds to mask the defective Medicare Part D policies enacted as part of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022 (P.L. 117-169),” Paul wrote.
Vice President Kamala Harris cast the deciding vote to push the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” through the Senate and this Green New Deal scam bill is one of her selling points to voters.
“Given the IRA’s central role in the Biden-Harris Administration’s presidential campaign, these concerns warrant additional investigation,” Paul’s letter continued.
Paul noted that Medicare premiums were set to increase in October, just as seniors – the most reliable voting bloc in the electorate – would be making up their minds on who to vote for.
“Additionally, Medicare Part D premiums were expected to rise even higher this year when open enrollment begins in October,” Paul added.
Accusations of election interference
Senator Paul outlined what he believed to be a taxpayer-funded October surprise.
“Yet, the Biden-Harris Administration very deliberately initiated a demonstration program to address rising costs for seniors only in an election year,” Paul also wrote.
Paul wrote on social media that Americans needed to have confidence that the administration wasn’t deploying taxpayer money in the Presidential Election for partisan gain.
“Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which is now driving up seniors’ health care premiums. Americans deserve to know if Biden and Harris are now illegally handing taxpayer funds to insurance companies in order to hide those premium increases right as seniors head to vote,” Paul also wrote on social media.
The latest New York Times/Siena/Philadelphia Inquirer poll out of Pennsylvania showed why Kamala’s signature legislation boosting Medicare premiums before the election is so politically fraught.
In the poll, Kamala led former President Donald Trump 50 to 46 percent.
This lead was built almost entirely on the fact that seniors supported her by a three-point margin.
In 2020, Trump won seniors by seven points.
The RealClearPolitics polling averages show the Electoral College coming down to Pennsylvania.
