Vice President J.D. Vance proved to be a valuable asset on the campaign trail.

Now in office the task of governing begins.

And J.D. Vance learned one bombshell about Donald Trump dropping him.

President Trump answers a question about endorsing J.D. Vance in 2028

The one inescapable truth about Donald Trump’s second term is that it will be his final term in office.

The Constitution’s 22nd Amendment forbids Trump from running again in 2028.

Vice President J.D. Vance was presumed by many in Washington and the media to be the anointed one three years from now.

The mere fact of serving as the Vice President confers assumed frontrunner status on whoever holds the office.

That’s especially true for Vance who proved himself to be one of the most effective and ruthless communicators of the MAGA message as he dissected Tim Walz and the fake news media journalists that interviewed him with his keen intellect, affable persona and ability to present facts, figures and political philosophy in an everyman persona that comes across like someone you enjoy inviting over for a beer to watch a football game.

When Joe Biden ran for President in 2020, it stuck out like a sore thumb that Barack Obama – who Biden served as Vice President – didn’t immediately endorse Biden and only did so once all the other candidates dropped out.

Trump routinely lampooned Biden that year over the fact that his boss wouldn’t endorse him.

Fox News anchor Bret Bair put the endorsement question to Donald Trump during an interview taped for the Super Bowl pregame show.

Baier wondered if Trump would say at this very moment whether Vice President Vance would be his successor.

Trump declined to offer an answer but did say that Vance is doing a fantastic job.

“No, but he’s very capable. I think you have a lot of very capable people. So far I think he’s doing a fantastic job. It’s too early, we’re just starting,” Trump began.

Trump tasked Vance with getting his cabinet confirmed as it was Vance who made the closing sales pitch to RINOs like Todd Young and Bill Cassidy that won their critical votes to support the confirmation of Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Director of National Intelligence and Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Bair reminded Trump that the midterms were next year and shortly thereafter the 2028 election cycle would begin.

“Well by the time we get to the midterms he’s gonna be looking for an endorsement,” Baier stated.

Trump again didn’t answer, but did tip his hand about his thoughts by referring to massive amounts of accomplishments “we” – meaning he and Vance – racked up in the first three weeks in office.

“Yeah. A lot of people have said that this has been the greatest opening–almost 3 weeks–in the history of the presidency. Well, we’ve done so much, so fast. And we really had to because what they’ve done to our country is so sad, so sad. We’re going to be bigger, better and stronger than ever before,” Trump concluded.

There are a host of governors, Senators and maybe even cabinet officials that would like to keep their 2028 options open.

Trump knows he needs to work with these people for the next three years, so it makes no sense to antagonize them by endorsing Vance for an election that isn’t for 45 months.
