According to a CBS poll, 53 percent of Americans – including 55 percent of Americans under the age of 30 – approve of President Trump’s job in office.

CNN host Sara Sidner asked data analyst Harry Enten to put President Trump’s early job numbers in perspective by comparing them to his first term.
Enten explained to viewers that eight years ago Trump’s approval rating in the polling aggregate for first weeks in office was underwater by four points.
Today Trump’s average favorability ratings is five points higher than his unfavorable number.
“So I want you to take a look at this plus size, this plus sign. Right? Compare that to the negative sign. Being on the plus size of the ledger. Right. And positive net approval territory, a positive net approval rating for Donald Trump,” Enten stated.
Enten pointed out that Trump’s popularity is so far proving durable as in the entirety of his first term.
“Again. Whoa! Whoa, whoa, whoa! Entire first term, just 11 days. Just 11 days Donald Trump had a net positive approval rating,” Enten added.
But every day of Trump’s second term so far shows President Trump’s approval rating in favorable territory.
“Compare that to the second term just so far, just so far! Every single day of Trump’s second term so far, he has been on the positive side of the ledger. 21 days, all three weeks,” Enten told viewers.
Sidner asked Enten what explained this reversal of fortune.
“Is there something that Americans say about why they like him now more than they did back in the first term?” Sidner inquired.
Enten replied by pointing to the CBS poll showing 70 percent of Americans believe Donald Trump is keeping his campaign promises.
“You know, I think one of the things that’s so important for politicians is for folks to believe what they’re saying and that they’re keeping their campaign promises,” Enten responded. “We’re living in a different world. 70% of Americans say Trump is doing what he promised to do.”
