Donald Trump continues to make moves that set precedent and keep his opponents off balance.
Trump pulled off another public relations coup.
And Donald Trump made an announcement about the Super Bowl that made history.
The Super Bowl exists as one of the last remaining unifying cultural events in America.
More than 124 million Americans are expected to watch Super Bowl 59, a rematch of Super Bowl 57 between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs are going for an historic threepeat, as no team in NFL history has ever won three straight Super Bowls.
The game will also feature another historic first.
Donald Trump will be the first sitting President to attend the Super Bowl as a guest of New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson.
“President Trump plans to attend Sunday’s Super Bowl in New Orleans, becoming the first sitting commander-in-chief to attend America’s biggest annual sporting event, The Post has learned,” the New York Post reported.
Taylor Swift will also attend the game to cheer on boyfriend Travis Kelce, meaning the two most famous human beings on the planet will be under one roof at the Super Dome in New Orleans.
When Trump shows at the Super Bowl on Sunday, he will see the NFL capitulating the culture zeitgeist that overtook America with Trump’s win.
After the Black Lives Matter insurrection in the summer of 2020, the NFL began stenciling woke political slogans in the end zones.
“End Racism,” “It Takes All of Us,” “Stop Hate,” “Choose Love” and “Vote” began appearing as psyops to turn Americans against Donald Trump during his re-election campaign.
That’s no more as the NFL removed “End Racism” from the end zone at the Super Bowl and replaced it with “Choose Love” and “It Takes All of Us.”
“On Super Sunday, however, the NFL might be making another kind of statement. According to two league sources, Sunday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will mark the first time since February 2021 that “End Racism” is not included as a message in the back of a Super Bowl end zone. Instead, “Choose Love” and “It Takes All of Us” will be stenciled onto the back of the end zones at the Caesars Superdome,” The Athletic reports.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy claimed this had nothing to do with the political moment America experienced but was instead intended to honor the victims of the January 1 terrorist attack in New Orleans and the California wildfires.
“We felt it was an appropriate statement for what the country has collectively endured, given recent tragedies, and can serve as an inspiration,” McCarthy stated.
But “End Racism” appeared in the endzone of Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field during the NFL Championship Game.
The NFL is the 800-pound gorilla in American sports and pop culture.
The league never likes to show weakness.
However, it’s hard to see this as anything other than the NFL caving in out of fear Trump would be asked about the league’s woke messaging, which would drag the NFL into the culture war.
