The Left keeps ratcheting up the resistance to President Trump and his agenda.

But Democrats are treading into dangerous territory.

And Donald Trump is headed for a Supreme Court showdown with this Democrat state.

One of Donald Trump’s most popular agenda items was an executive order entitled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports.”

The executive order defunded schools that allowed biological males in women’s sports by establishing it as “the policy of the United States to rescind all funds from educational programs that deprive women and girls of fair athletic opportunities, which results in the endangerment, humiliation, and silencing of women and girls and deprives them of privacy.  It shall also be the policy of the United States to oppose male competitive participation in women’s sports more broadly, as a matter of safety, fairness, dignity, and truth.”

A New York Times/Ipsos poll found 79 percent of Americans supported banning men from competing in women’s sports.

Democrats are determined to die on this hill.

Every Senate Democrat voted to filibuster legislation to codify President Trump’s executive order into law.

But no Democrat took a bigger stand against banning biological males from playing girls’ sports than Maine Governor Janet Mills.

During a White House luncheon with the nation’s governors, President Trump called out Maine’s Democrat Governor Janet Mills over the state allowing a biological male to compete in a high school girl’s pole-vaulting event.

Unsurprisingly, the male won easily over his female competitors.

At the luncheon, President Trump warned Governor Mills that they risked losing federal funding for schools if she continued to allow men to play women’s sports.

‘You better do it because you’re not going to get federal funding,’ Trump said when he told Mills she needed to start following federal law.

Mills responded with a dare.

‘We’re going to follow the law, sir. We’ll see you in court!’ Mills exclaimed.

President Trump accepted the challenge and predicted it would be the end of Mills’ political career.

“Enjoy your life as governor, because I don’t think you’ll be an elected official afterwards,” Trump shot back.

And sure enough, the Trump administration followed through.

The chief financial officer at the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) emailed the head of the University of Maine System (USM) and informed them that federal funds were cut off pending an investigation.

USDA’s chief financial officer informed the head of UMS that “awarding agencies and staff offices to temporarily no longer issue any payments or authorize any other releases of funding to Columbia University or the University of Maine System.”

This pause was temporary in nature but would hit hard as the University of Maine received $30 million in USDA funding in 2024.

“This pause is temporary in nature while USDA evaluates if it should take any follow-on actions related to prospective Title VI or Title IX violations. Please take any necessary actions to effectuate this direction from leadership. This pause will remain in effect until further notice,” the email continued.

Democrats are looking to pick fights with President Trump.

Drawing a line in the sand on men in women’s sports is a surefire loser.
