The Al Smith Dinner is a tentpole even during the Presidential Election.

Named after former New York Governor Al Smith – the first Catholic ever nominated to run for President – the dinner raises millions of dollars for Catholic Charities.

Other than the debates, it’s the one time both Presidential candidates share the stage where they roast themselves and their opponent in a lighthearted event.

For the first time since 1996, a candidate will skip the dinner.

That year the church didn’t invite Republican Presidential candidate Bob Dole because they were going to invite former President Bill Clinton after he vetoed a late-term abortion ban.

Donald Trump will attend and he put out a message on Truth Social to Catholics.

He said he was “delighted” to attend the dinner and mentioned his 2016 appearance where he used Clinton’s scandals as the butt of jokes.

“We know the Spirit of Al Smith, the first Catholic Nominee of a Major Party, and John F. Kennedy, the FIRST Catholic President, will be in the room with us that night. It was a virtual event in 2020, and I was delighted to speak to our Catholic friends that day and, of course, it was a HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL evening in 2016 when we were there in person with Crooked Hillary Clinton,” Trump wrote.

Trump wrote that Catholics who vote for Vice President Kamala Harris need “their head examined” as her administration used the FBI to infiltrate Catholic Churches and label anyone who attended Latin Mass as a potential domestic terrorist.

 ‘The reviews of my remarks were TREMENDOUS. It’s sad, but not surprising, that Kamala has decided not to attend. I don’t know what she has against our Catholic friends, but it must be a lot, because she certainly hasn’t been very nice to them, in fact, Catholics are literally being persecuted by this Administration. Any Catholic that votes for Comrade Kamala Harris should have their head examined….” Trump concluded.

Kamala Harris insults Catholics on the heels of Pope Francis’ comments

Trump’s message to Catholics about Kamala weaponizing the government to persecute them for their religious views came on the heels of Pope Francis telling Catholics this election was a contest between the “lesser of two evils.”

“Both are against life, be it the one who kicks out migrants, or be it the one who kills babies,” the Pope said in a press conference aboard his plane on a trip to Asia.

Donald Trump wants the Pope and Catholic voters to know this isn’t the case at all.

Not only does Kamala reject the church’s teachings on abortion, but that she only unleashed the FBI on Catholics to spy on them and jail them for opposing the Democrats’ woke agenda.

30 percent of the population in Pennsylvania are Catholics as are 31 percent in Wisconsin.

The Catholic vote is traditionally a swing vote in Presidential elections.

Kamala Harris is taking a major risk in blowing off Catholics.
