Six weeks into the 2025 season everything has changed.

The Dallas Cowboys owner isn’t the only one tickled pink.

And Dak Dak Prescott silenced oddsmakers with one list placing that has Jerry Jones grinning from ear to ear.

Prescott is dominating the NFL comeback race

Dak Prescott isn’t just back from his nightmare 2024 season – he’s playing like one of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks again.

The Cowboys quarterback leads the 2025 Comeback Player of the Year odds at +200 through six weeks, according to DraftKings Sportsbook as of October 14.¹

Those odds reflect what the numbers already show – Prescott is completing 71.6% of his passes (fourth in the NFL), has thrown for 1,617 yards (second in the league), and posted 13 touchdowns (second) against only three interceptions.¹

That’s a remarkable turnaround for a 32-year-old quarterback who played just eight games in 2024 before his hamstring literally tore off the bone during a Week 9 loss to Atlanta.²

Prescott managed only 11 touchdowns against eight interceptions last season before the injury ended his campaign and had critics questioning whether the Cowboys’ $240 million investment was about to turn into the worst contract in franchise history.²,³

Six weeks into 2025, those questions look ridiculous.

The competition can’t match Prescott’s statistical dominance

Christian McCaffrey trails Prescott at +300 odds despite putting together a solid comeback of his own.¹

The 49ers running back leads the NFL with 108 carries through six weeks and has accumulated 336 rushing yards with one touchdown, plus 444 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.¹

McCaffrey’s workload proves he’s healthy again after missing 13 games in 2024 with Achilles and PCL injuries that limited him to a career-worst 348 total yards and zero touchdowns.⁴

But leading the league in carries doesn’t generate the same voter excitement as leading the league in touchdown passes.

Aidan Hutchinson sits at +300 odds after returning from a fractured tibia and fibula that ended his 2024 season in Week 6.¹,⁵

The Lions defensive end has posted six sacks (fourth in the NFL) and four forced fumbles (tied for first) through six weeks of 2025.¹

Those numbers would normally make Hutchinson a serious contender, except quarterbacks have won Comeback Player of the Year six straight seasons.⁶

Voters consistently reward elite statistical production at the game’s most important position over the severity of injury comebacks.⁶

Daniel Jones is the sleeper nobody saw coming

The most surprising name on the odds board sits at +450 – former Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.¹

New York benched and released Jones following a 2-8 start last season when he threw eight touchdowns and seven interceptions in 10 games.¹

The Colts took a chance on him, and through six starts Indianapolis sits at 5-1 with Jones completing 71.7% of his passes (third in the NFL) while throwing eight touchdowns against just three interceptions.¹

Jones is quietly putting together the kind of statistical resurgence that wins this award if Indianapolis makes the playoffs.¹

But he’s chasing Prescott, who’s not just bouncing back – he’s playing at an MVP-caliber level through the first six weeks.

Prescott proved the doubters dead wrong

Joe Burrow won Comeback Player of the Year in 2024 after leading the NFL with 4,918 passing yards and 43 touchdowns following wrist surgery.⁹

Burrow became only the second player ever to win the award twice, joining Chad Pennington.⁹

The formula for winning this award is clear – elite quarterback play combined with eye-popping statistics trumps everything else.

Prescott checked those boxes through six weeks with 13 touchdown passes that rank second in the entire league and a microscopic three interceptions.¹

The Cowboys added George Pickens opposite CeeDee Lamb and hired Brian Schottenheimer as head coach to maximize Prescott’s weapons.⁸

Those moves are paying off as Prescott posts numbers that rival his 2023 MVP runner-up campaign.

Critics spent the offseason questioning whether a 32-year-old quarterback with a reconstructed hamstring and a history of season-ending injuries to his ankle, thumb, and leg could return to form.⁷

Six weeks of dominant quarterback play answered those questions emphatically.

Prescott’s +200 odds reflect what’s happening on the field right now – he’s not just back, he’s better than he was before the injury derailed his 2024 season.¹

If Prescott maintains this level of production through 17 games, the only debate come January will be whether he deserves Comeback Player of the Year consideration or MVP votes.
