Chaos erupted on a hit reality show after this star attended Donald Trump’s inauguration
Donald Trump had a cross-section of celebrities attend his inauguration.
But showing up landed one in the hot seat.
And chaos erupted on a hit reality show after this star attended Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Carrie Underwood faces backlash for performing at Trump’s inauguration
Country music star Carrie Underwood has kept her politics to herself during her career.
She sang a moving rendition of “America the Beautiful” in the Capitol Rotunda before Trump was sworn in.
The music didn’t play, so she sang acapella and asked the crowd gathered to sing along with her.
Underwood faced backlash for performing at the inauguration from the woke outrage mob.
She defended her decision to sing as an attempt to unify the country.
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood said in a statement. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
Underwood rose to fame after she won the fourth season of American Idol in 2005.
Now, she’s back on the show as one of the judges.
The Daily Mail reported that the ABC reality show’s producers are fretting that Underwood’s appearance at Trump’s inauguration could spark a woke backlash.
Sources on American Idol claimed that Underwood could make contestants feel “uncomfortable” and hurt the show’s reputation for being LGBTQ-friendly.
“Idol contestants come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds, and so do the people who work on the show,” a source told the Daily Mail. “There are concerns that her apparent political stance might make some contestants feel uncomfortable.”
American Idol producers panic over Carrie Underwood
The producers are worried that Underwood, one of the most popular female country stars, could end up hurting the show’s ratings.
“There’s also worry that backlash could impact viewership,” the source added. “Her apparent support for Trump doesn’t align with the show’s values of inclusivity and diversity.”
Underwood singing at the inauguration could create tension with the show’s other left-wing judges.
“[One judge] Lionel Richie, who is very liberal, may not see eye to eye with Carrie’s views which could create some tension,” the source explained. “He has never and will never support Trump. The general opinion is that Carrie should have thought about the show’s culture and network values before jumping into such a major role while under contract.”
Judges on the show are told to avoid making political statements.
Underwood reportedly sang at the inauguration because she wanted to honor the office of the President.
“This is something that she is very proud of, and the spin she is putting on it is that she is doing it for America, not specifically for Trump,” a source stated. “She does her music for everyone, and she also knows many of her fans will be watching the inauguration. So this was a no-brainer as she feels there is more good that will come from it besides those that will bash her for what it looks like supporting Trump.”
The woke outrage mob is alive and well on broadcast television even after cultural attitudes about Donald Trump shifted.
